Abstract: An electrochemical compressor utilizes an anion conducting layer disposed between an anode and a cathode for transporting a working fluid. The working fluid may include carbon dioxide that is dissolved in water and is partially converted to carbonic acid that is equilibrium with bicarbonate anion. An electrical potential across the anode and cathode creates a pH gradient that drives the bicarbonate anion across the anion conducting layer to the cathode, wherein it is reformed into carbon dioxide. Therefore, carbon dioxide is pumped across the anion conducting layer. The compressor may be part of a refrigeration system that pumps the working fluid in a closed loop through a condenser and an evaporator.

Abstract: A method of forming a material layer on a substrate comprises loading a substrate into a printing zone of a coating system using a substrate handler, printing an organic ink material on a substrate while the substrate is located in the printing zone, transferring the substrate from the printing zone to a treatment zone of the coating system, treating the organic ink material deposited on the substrate in the treatment zone to form a film layer on the substrate, and removing the substrate from the treatment zone using the substrate handler.

Abstract: Aqueous coating compositions include dispersed polyurethane-vinyl polymer hybrid particles obtained by free-radical polymerization of at least one vinyl monomer in the presence of a polyurethane. The polyurethane and the vinyl polymer in the hybrid particles are present in a weight ratio of polyurethane to vinyl polymer ranging from 1:1 to 20:1, and the polyurethane is the reaction product of at least the following components: (a) from 5 to 40 wt. % of at least one organic difunctional isocyanate, (b) from 0.5 to 4 wt. % of an isocyanate-reactive compound containing ionic or potentially ionic water-dispersing groups having a molecular weight of from 100 to 500 g/mol, (c) from 40 to 80 wt. % of at least one diol having a molecular weight from 500 to 5000, (d) from 0 to 10 wt. % of at least one active-hydrogen chain extending compound with a functionality of at least 2 other than water, (e) from 0 to 10 wt. % of at least one diol having a molecular weight below 500 g/mol. The isocyanate and hydroxy groups on the components used are present in a respective mole ratio (NCO to OH) in the range of from 0.8:1 to 5:1.

Abstract: Crosslinkable or crosslinked silicone compositions that can be used, in particular, to form a non-stick and water-repellent coating or film for flexible substrates and in the form of natural or synthetic polymer films are provided. These compositions comprise crosslinking organopolysiloxanes bearing SiH units and unsaturated organopolysiloxanes, preferably vinyl organopolysiloxanes, capable of reacting with the crosslinker by addition reaction, in the presence of platinum in order to form the non-stick crosslinked coating on the flexible substrate, and at least one crosslinking and attachment-promoting additive X. These compositions are advantageously free of solvent and can be crosslinked instantaneously into a non-stick and/or water-repellent coating for a flexible substrate.
