The use of a digital camera in communication with a mobile device to determine the intensity of ambient light conditions is described herein. In one example, the digital camera receives light energy representing ambient light. The intensity of the ambient light is determined and, based upon a comparison of that intensity to a setpoint, the mobile device is reconfigured. In another example, a mobile device is described that uses a digital camera to measure ambient light conditions. The mobile device can be configured in various ways based upon a determination of the intensity and/or wavelengths of the ambient light.
Abstract:
A method of visualizing a color deviation of an actual color on a vehicle panel being painted utilizing a computer. A reference color image is displayed on a monitor to confirm that the reference color image is the appropriate color image relating to the actual color. Differences between that displayed reference color image and the actual color are inputted into the computer and the reference image is then translated into a revised color image. The revised color image is displayed on the monitor along with the reference color image such that a user can visually compare the differences between that displayed reference color image and displayed revised color image. The displayed revised color image can then be compared to the actual color to determine if any color deviations between the revised color image and the actual color remain.
Abstract:
A radiation detector is disclosed with a detector arrangement, which has a plurality of detector elements, by means of which a detector signal is obtained during operation of the radiation detector, and with a control device, wherein the detector elements each have a spectral sensitivity distribution, and are suited for generating signals. At least one detector element includes a compound semiconductor material, and this detector element is designed for detecting radiation in the visible spectral region. The radiation detector is designed such that the sensitivity distributions of the detector elements are used to form different spectral sensitivity channels of the radiation detector. A channel signal assigned to the respective sensitivity channel can be generated in these sensitivity channels using the detector elements, and the control device is designed such that the contributions of different channel signals to the detector signal of the radiation detector are differently controlled.
Abstract:
A computer implemented image editing tool and method for using the tool for color-selective editing of a digital image including multiple shapes with different color fills displayed on a display. The image editing tool includes a modified group color mixer which has a plurality of markers representing the colors of the plurality of shapes in the digital image. By dragging the markers, multiple shapes can be edited with the same group color mixer. The image editing tool also includes a color organizer which has swatches corresponding to the number of shapes and the color fills of shapes in the digital image. The swatches are positioned according to the positions of the corresponding shapes in the digital image for easy identification. Users can drag and drop swatches to swap colors between shapes, add new colors, discard colors, store colors for reference, edit multiple swatches simultaneously, and organize colors.

A two-dimensional colorimeter includes: an image sensing section, having an image sensor constituted of a number of pixels arranged in a two-dimensional manner, for sensing an object image to be measured to acquire a two-dimensional image; a discriminator for discriminating whether a targeted color with respect to the two-dimensional image acquired by the image sensing section is to be corrected in terms of a pixel or pixels; and a calculator for performing a calculation to apply predetermined correction information corresponding to the color to be corrected to the two-dimensional image in terms of a pixel or pixels, based on a discrimination result by the discriminator.
Abstract:
A method that is suitable for modelling and simulating optical properties in special effect paints which contain pigments with isotropic light-scattering properties and pigments with anisotropic light-scattering properties, and the effect-producing substances form at least one layer of material or coat of paint on a suitable substrate. The method is also suitable for reproducing a shade of colour of a colour template of a special effect paint of this kind, by determining and comparing the optical properties of the colour template and a formulation of a paint mock-up, so that using the comparison a correction can be made to the formulation for the paint mock-up and the shades of colour of the colour template and paint mock-up can be matched. The method is characterised in that the isotropically light-scattering pigments and the anisotropically light-scattering pigments are virtually separated such that the isotropically light-scattering pigments virtually form the layer of material and the anisotropically light-scattering pigments are virtually arranged on the edge surfaces of the layer of material. The optical properties of the virtual layer of material of the isotropically light-scattering pigments are determined by linear differential equations and the optical properties of the anisotropically light-scattering pigments are taken into consideration as boundary conditions, by means of specific effect operators.

Abstract:
An optics assembly for a color measurement system. The optics assembly includes at least one light tube array and a polarization effect minimization element. The optics assembly includes a diffuser, a photocell separator, a precision filter and a second light tube array is provided substantially contained in a housing. The color measurement system includes a multi-purpose filter and the optics assembly. Segmented light is mixed and the polarization qualities of the light are modified so to minimize the effects caused by angular adjustments. A diffuser mixes the segmented light. Additionally, the color measurement system includes an ambient light attachment for collecting light from the viewing area surrounding the computer display. The ambient light collected is then analyzed, and a viewing area profile is created. The viewing area profile then can be used by software to adjust the colors displayed on the computer displays.
