    Abstract: An optical filter may include a substrate. The optical filter may include a first mirror. The optical filter may include a second mirror. The optical filter may include a spacer. The first mirror, the second mirror, and the spacer may form a plurality of component filters. A first component filter, of the plurality of component filters, may be associated with a first cross-sectional area and a second component filter, of the plurality of component filters, is associated with a second cross-sectional area. The first cross-sectional area and the second cross-sectional area may be configured to response balance the first component filter and the second component filter.

    Abstract: Provided are a spectral filter, and an image sensor and an electronic device each including the spectral filter. The spectral filter includes a plurality of first filter arrays respectively including a plurality of band filters and a plurality of second filter arrays provided on the plurality of first filter arrays. The plurality of unit filters includes a first reflecting plate, a second reflecting plate provided above the first reflecting plate, and a plurality of cavities provided between the first and second reflecting plates and each having central wavelengths of different bands. Each of the plurality of cavities includes a lower cavity layer, a upper cavity layer, and an intermediate light absorption layer provided between the lower cavity layer and the upper cavity layer. Each of the plurality of band filters is configured to transmit light in a specific band, and two or more of the plurality of cavities are configured to have a same effective refractive index.

    Abstract: A multi-pixel spectroscopy sensor for spectral analysis of a sample under test including an array of pixel elements generating a dataset including a plurality of data values corresponding to the pixel elements upon illumination of the sample by a light source. Each of the pixel elements including a stack of layers including first and second reflective structures, a phase tuning element, a detector element, and contact elements. The sensor further includes a read-out circuit connected to each of the contact elements for simultaneous read-out of a plurality of photocurrents for generating and outputting the dataset for the spectral analysis of the sample under test. The phase tuning element of each of the pixel elements is configured for a different wavelength response of the light and each photodetector of the pixel elements is comprised of a semiconductor material.

    Abstract: An improved compact spectrometer system comprising a spatially variable detector and/or a spatially variable light source is disclosed. The spatially variable detector can comprise a first plurality of similar spaced apart detector regions having similar detectable wavelength ranges and a second plurality of different spaced apart detector regions having different detectable wavelength ranges that are different from the similar detectable wavelength ranges. The spatially variable light source can comprise a first plurality of similar spaced apart lighting regions emitting light of similar detectable wavelength ranges and a second plurality of different spaced apart lighting regions emitting light of different detectable wavelength ranges that are different from the similar detectable wavelength ranges. The disparity in measured light intensity along the spatially variable detector and the disparity in emitted light intensity along the spatially variable light source can be determined and adjusted.
