Abstract:
A pressure-sensing massage machine that resolves the problems of difficult assembly and adjustment and the occurrence of operational errors common to a sensing mechanism that uses many components and devices. The massage machine of the present invention is able to monitor the pressure applied to the massage recipient by a motor-driven movably extending massaging member. A flexible member is provided in the transmission located between the massage member and the motor that drives the massage member, and a pressure sensing mechanism monitors the pressure applied to the massage recipient through the flexible displacement of the flexible member.
Abstract:
A massager (12) includes an inductively chargeable battery (48), avoiding the need to deal with batteries and cords while providing a pleasant exothermic warmth. Different embodiments of sealing and skinning (13) make the massager (12) hygienically safe and fluid- and water-resistant. Sophisticated controls (50) provide the massager with the ability to respond to direct-mounted user controls (20, 22), wireless communication controls such as remote controls (30) and a plethora of other protocol-compatible devices, systems and media. A mating base (14) supports the massager (12) for inductive charging in a stable, aesthetically pleasant and safe relationship.
Abstract:
A body massager is provided with a housing. A carriage translates in an upper torso region of the housing. A first massager on the carriage extends in a forward direction from the housing. A second motor-driven massager is mounted to the housing at a lower torso region and extends in the forward direction from the housing further than the first motor-driven massager. Another body massager provides a guide with a longitudinal region and a transverse region. Another body massager provides a suspension on the carriage. Another body massager provides a plate on the carriage for supporting a massage member. An actuator is mounted to the carriage for adjusting the plate. Another body massager provides a contoured guide with an actuator for adjusting the guide. Another body massager provides a transversely contoured guide. Another body massager provides a contoured guide that extends forward in upper and lower torso regions.
Abstract:
A user-guided massage unit, including a housing having a three-dimensional massage mechanism for massaging in three-dimensions, the three-dimensional massage mechanism being in electronic contact with a touch-screen interface and including a translation mechanism for translating movement on the touch-screen interface to movement of the three-dimensional massage mechanism. A chair including the user-guided massage unit. A method of providing a massage by operating a touch-screen interface, translating movement on the touch-screen interface to movement of a three-dimensional massage mechanism of a user-guided massage unit, moving the three-dimensional massage mechanism, and providing a massage. A method of storing a massage routine by selecting a learning mode, operating a touch-screen interface, translating movement on the touch-screen interface to movement of a three-dimensional massage mechanism of a user-guided massage unit, moving the three-dimensional massage mechanism, providing a massage, and storing the massage routine.
Abstract:
A massager is provided with a body support member having a frame with a cavity. A substrate has a series of receptacles and is mounted to the frame. A plurality of removable vibratory massage units are each mounted within one of the receptacles for imparting a vibratory massage effect. A massage chair is provided with a base for resting upon an underlying support surface. A seat bottom is supported upon the base. A seat back is supported by the base and/or the seat bottom. The massager is provided in the seat back and/or the seat bottom. A method for permitting selective removal of a massage assembly from a massager provides a body support member with a frame and a cavity, and a substrate with a series of receptacles. The substrate is installed to the frame. A plurality of removable vibratory massage units are installed in the receptacles.
Abstract:
A chair-type massage machine is provided which comprises a seat, backrest and leg portion having a plurality of preset reclining angles for giving an effective massage to the user in various postures. The massage machine comprises a seat pivotally movably supported by a base, a backrest pivotally movably supported by the seat at the rear end thereof, a leg portion pivotally movably supported by the seat at the front end thereof, control means for controlling seat moving means, backrest moving means and the leg portion moving means and a manual controller. The control means has stored therein a plurality of preset reclining angles with respect to the angle of the seat, backrest and the leg portion. The manual controller has reclining selection buttons for selecting one of the reclining angles and an initial position button. The control means operates the moving means for the seat, backrest and leg portion when the reclining angle is selected by the reclining selection button and pivotally moves the seat, backrest and leg portion to the selected angle.
Abstract:
A seat (5) includes a sensor (21) mounted on the seat which is arranged to sense the presence of an object, or movement or position of an object in a non-contact manner, within a sensing region around the seat. A processor is arranged to receive an audio signal and to process the audio signal based on presence, movement or position detected by the first sensor. A processed signal is delivered to a vibro-acoustic transducer mounted within the seat. The processor can also control a lighting effect based on presence, movement or position detected by the first sensor. A user can interact with audio in a personal way, to suit the mood of the user. A seated user can move their body (especially arms or hands) to modify audio, such as music. The seat has a nodule (12) which, in use, fits between the legs of a seated user. The nodule can house the sensor (21) and user controls.

Abstract:
A lumbar system for use in a seat includes a frame having a first side and a second side substantially opposite the first side, a pump mounted to the second side of the frame and operable to pressurize air, and a control module mounted to the second side of the frame. The control module is in communication with the pump to receive pressurized air. The lumbar system also includes a plurality of air cells mounted to the first side of the frame. Each of the plurality of air cells individually communicates with the control module to receive variable amounts of pressurized air provided by the pump such that each air cell is independently inflatable. The frame, the pump, the control module, and the plurality of air cells are installable in the seat as a single unit by coupling the frame to the seat.
