Abstract:
A resuscitation device for automatic compression of victim's chest using a compression belt which exerts force evenly over the entire thoracic cavity. The belt is constricted and relaxed through a motorized spool assembly which repeatedly tightens the belt and relaxes the belt to provide repeated and rapid chest compression. An assembly includes various resuscitation devices including chest compression devices, defibrillation devices, and airway management devices, along with communications devices and senses with initiate communications with emergency medical personnel automatically upon use of the device.
Abstract:
Carbon dioxide is contacted to a skin and mucous membrane of a living organism directly or through clothing, thereby to improve or promote circulation of the blood in a myocardial region, and furthermore to prevent, improve or cure myocardial infarction. The following steps (a) to (d) are continued at least once per day for four weeks, that is, a step (a) of producing a carbon dioxide gas mist by pulverizing and dissolving carbon dioxide gas into a liquid, and forming this liquid into a mist; a step (b) of spraying the carbon dioxide gas mist into a carbon dioxide gas mist-enclosing means for enclosing the living organism in an air tight state, a step (c) of expelling gas existing in the carbon dioxide gas mist-enclosing means into the outside, if necessary in parallel with the step (b), in order to maintain the pressure of gas within the carbon dioxide gas mist-enclosing means at or above a prescribed value being higher than the atmospheric pressure, and a step (d) of continuing such a step of supplying, for at least 20 minutes, the carbon dioxide mist into the carbon dioxide gas mist-enclosing means.

Abstract:
Described herein are various embodiments of differential air pressure systems and methods of using and calibration such systems for individuals with impaired mobility. The differential air pressure systems may comprise an access assist device configured to help a mobility impaired user to stand in a pressure chamber configured to apply a positive pressure on a portion of the user's body in the seals pressure chamber. The system may further comprise load sensors configured to measure the user's weight exerted inside and outside the chamber. The system may be calibrated by determining a relationship between the actual weight of the user and the pressure in the chamber, where the actual weight of the user may be measured by more than one load sensor and at least one load sensor is not in the chamber.
Abstract:
An orthosis machine for providing therapeutic and/or rehabilitative functionalities including at least one of Continuous Passive Motion, Passive Range of Motion, Active Assistive Range of Motion, Active Range of Motion, Resistive Range of Motion, proprioception training and biofeedback from a seated, supine, or recumbent position. Therapeutic and/or rehabilitative functionalities provided by the orthosis machine may be powered by the user or a motor and may be used through one or more phases of post surgical and/or general rehabilitation and physical therapy from multiple angular positions.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a massage or therapy table (1), constituted by a pedestal (2) intended to receive a set of moveable elements (3), characterized in that the moveable elements (3) comprise a plurality of height-adjustable rollers on which a person can rest in a lying and/or seated position, while in the space situated between two consecutive rollers a connecting strip intended to provide protection to the chest or back of the patient, and/or mouldings intended to provide side protection to the patient are fixed. Application to massages and other bodily treatments.
Abstract:
The present technology is the use of the combination to treat a patient and the treatment of a patient. Sine waves are generated digitally by the combination. Data validation is used to ensure correct directional alignment prior to device activation. Patient safety and consistency in treatment protocols are considered in the spinal and upper cervical impulse treatment design. A patient is treated with smooth sinusoidal waveform with a force of about 8 N to about 12.2 N with a Z-axis of acceleration (shear acceleration) of about 0.5 g to about 5g at about 5 Hertz (Hz) to about 200 Hertz. Treatment conditions can be varied depending upon the size of the patient, which includes human and veterinary patients. The method is non-invasive.
Abstract:
A fall protection device for trampolines includes at least one rope which is preferably substantially non-resilient and can be connected to a user of the trampoline. At least one tautening device is provided for holding the rope taut when the fall protection device is in use. Also provided is at least one device for limiting the rope extension.
Abstract:
A sit down and stand up walker for assisting a user during walking and when not walking in a standing, partially standing or sitting positions with partial or full weight bearing support and with means to change from standing, partially standing to sitting positions with partial weight bearing support to a fixed elevation with full weight bearing support in any varied or repeated sequence. The partial or full weight bearing means supports a seat assembly which includes a seat and front body support with adjustable positioning to provide pelvic stability. The angle of the seat assembly relative to a flat ground surface is maintained at any elevation of the seat assembly between a standing and sitting position. The weight bearing means is responsive to the variable force supplied by the user as the user walks, stands or sits allowing the seat assembly to move up or down. The weight bearing means in a preferred embodiment is an enclosed gas spring cylinder with piston rod that can be locked at differing elevations or released to respond to a user's body force as the user walks, stands or sits. The walker is intended to be moved without the user's hands holding onto the frame thereby promoting a normal gait and posture. The walker enables the user to expend less energy as the body's center of gravity with partial or full weight bearing support rises and falls with each stride. The walker facilitates transfers from a sitting to standing positions and vice versa by the user independently without the intervention of caregivers.
Abstract:
A safety improvement for the well established types of wheeled handicap walkers with safety levers attached to the walker; the safety levers begin at the handholds part of the walker and about over the rear wheel and are formed back and upward to conform to the back of the users lower arm; the user grips the handholds of the walker to walk forward; the walker, equipped with the safety levers, hits an obstacle with the front wheels, the safety levers contact the back of the users lower arms, user applies the back of their lower arm to urge downward on the safety levers causing the walker to rock backwards which in turn causes the downward energy to shift and the front wheel or wheels to lift and pass over the obstacle.
