Abstract:
An apparatus for musculoskeletal stimulation allows independent electronic control of vibration parameters and overall biasing force so that an optimum combination of these parameters may be obtained regardless of the user's weight and without the need for adjustment of mechanical weights or springs.
Abstract:
A portable, foldable, and multifunctional mobility aid apparatus that assists a user in standing, sitting, and/or walking process. The apparatus has an integrated power source and is based on 4 wheels. Users can stand on it and drive it as an electric mobility device, or disable it and use it as a passive walker. The apparatus has a pair of supporting beams with adjustable width to be placed under the user armpits and support the user in standing up, sitting down, and/or moving around. The apparatus can be controlled by a control panel mounted on a pair of handles, and its functions can be controlled by the user with no need for help from another person. The apparatus can be minimized by a combination of multiple telescopic vertical minimization mechanisms and multiple folding mechanisms.
Abstract:
A robotic gait rehabilitation (RGR) training system is provided to address secondary gait deviations such as hip-hiking. An actuation assembly follows the natural motions of a user's pelvis, while applying corrective moments to pelvic obliquity. A human-robot interface (HRI), in the form of a lower body exoskeleton, is provided to improve the transfer of corrective moments to the pelvis. The system includes an impedance control system incorporating backdrivability that is able to modulate the forces applied onto the body depending on the patient's efforts. Various protocols for use of the system are provided.
Abstract:
A chair (1) for relieving back pain of a user, with a seat surface (2) and a backrest (3), wherein a backrest angle (4) between backrest (3) and seat surface (2) is adaptable. At least one support element (5) for supporting the upper body of the user, when the latter is in an intended sitting position, is arranged on the backrest (3), wherein the support element (5), in the intended sitting position, can preferably be arranged, or is arranged, under the armpits of the user. The support element (5) is designed in such a way, and arranged on the backrest in such a way, that it can be moved by the user in order to obtain a desired support of the upper body at a predefined backrest angle (4) while he is in the intended sitting position.
Abstract:
A system method and device, the system including a gait device for facilitating a gait of a person over a surface and one or a plurality of crutches to provide support over the surface the gait device, each of said one or a plurality of crutches including a locomotion facilitator to enhance locomotion of that crutch over the surface and a mechanism to modify the locomotion of that crutch over the surface.
Abstract:
An apparatus and corresponding method for treatment of skin conditions which includes a brushhead member which comprises a first portion which includes a plurality of rings of bristle tufts, the first portion oscillating in operation through a selected angle at a selected frequency and a second portion which also includes a plurality of rings of bristle tufts concentric with the first portion, the second portion remaining stationary in operation. At least one monochromatic light source is included, providing light directed from the brushhead in a direction substantially the same as the bristle tufts, such that the light impinges on the area of skin of the user acted on by the oscillating brushhead.
Abstract:
A foot spa tub includes a tub basin, a first magnetic drive member rotatably coupled to a drive motor, and a first casing supporting the magnetic drive member. The first casing is disposed against an exterior surface of a sidewall of the basin. A second magnetic drive member is rotatably coupled to a blade. The first and second magnetic drive members are magnetically coupled to each other so that the blade is drivingly coupled to the drive motor. A nozzle houses the second magnetic drive member and the blade. The nozzle is detachably securable to an interior surface of the sidewall by a magnetic attraction force between the first and second magnetic drive members. The nozzle is further secured in place through a fixation assembly which prevents displacement and rotation of the nozzle during operation.
Abstract:
Optical alignment for piston driven chest compression devices optimizes the application of chest compressions to a fixed location on a subject's chest and provides information regarding the depth and frequency of chest compressions. The targeting system records and may display some telemetry corresponding to any movement or “walking” away from the selected compression site as well as the depth and frequency of compressions. The targeting system is interconnected to the compression device controller and the targeting system provides warnings to operators if the compression components contact the subject outside a preset warning limit away from the selected compression site. The targeting system may also halt the compression device if the site of contact between the compression components and the subject is located outside a preset absolute limit.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for stimulating the tissue of an animal. The apparatus can comprise a vibration system configured to apply a vibration to the tissue. The apparatus can also comprise a compression system configured to compress the tissue. The system can deliver combinations of compressive or vibration stress to tissue either with or without background muscle contractions.
Abstract:
An adjustable pressure cuff device is provided for the arm or leg of a user for stimulating blood flow and preventing blood clots. The pressure cuff contains a number of bladders which wrap in the direction of the cuff and which are arranged in succession down the arm or leg of a user. An air compressor is connected to the bladders via a multiplicity of tubes, each of which contain a valve. A control module runs the air compressor and sequentially opens the valves to provide air pressure to the bladders in succession along the arm or leg of a user. Further, between the bladders and the valves, additional tubes containing valves are provided to equalize pressure between bladders before exhausting the air from a previously pressurized bladder to save power and allow for increased patterns of bladder pressure. The pressure levels and bladder dwell times may be adjusted by the user or based on predetermined settings. Optionally, the device provides electrical stimulation, pulsations, heating, and cooling.
