Abstract: A hip traction device and associated methods is disclosed. Such a device may include a base having a proximal end and a distal end, a guide coupled to the base, a carrier configured to move along the guide, a tensioner coupled to the base and configured to provide a force to the carrier to move the carrier toward the distal end of the base, causing a leg to be put in tension, and a single body coupling mechanism being removably attached to the carrier and being configured to securely attach to a lower portion of a leg when the body coupling mechanism is detached from the carrier.

Abstract: Improved automatic chest compression systems which use constricting belts, repeatedly inflating bladders, or reciprocating pistons to compress the chest. A bladder is placed between the chest and the particular mechanism used to compress the chest during CPR. The bladder maximizes the effectiveness of chest compressions.

Abstract: The present teachings provide for an exercise device for exercising a joint and a limb. The device includes an actuator, a foot plate, a foot plate load cell, and a restrictor. The actuation member is rotatable about a rotation axis. The actuation member includes a first portion and a second portion that is movable in a direction perpendicular to the rotation axis. The foot plate is at a distal end of the second portion of the actuation member. The foot plate load cell is mounted to the foot plate and is configured to measure force exerted on the foot plate. The restrictor is configured to restrict movement of the second portion of the actuation member and the foot plate at the distal end thereof in the direction perpendicular to the rotation axis unless force exerted on the foot plate exceeds a predetermined force.

Abstract: Active wearable body brace embodiments provide selectable conformation control of the interface between the trunk of a human subject and the brace, which conformation may be varied over time and responsively to feedback and an updateable prescription. Further active wearable body brace embodiments provide selectable movement control of the interface between the trunk of a human subject and the brace with up to six degrees of freedom between elements to allow a controller to implement operations such as muscle challenges, active support, and passive-like support where actuators mimic springs. Further embodiments may also provide detection functions such as quantifying muscle weakness. The features of these embodiments may be combined in various ways to provide still further embodiments.

Abstract: This application discloses a portable exercise device for flexibility and strengthening. In some embodiments, the device is comprised of one elastic band of surgical tubing or like material and one non-elastic band, with two pairs of looped handles tied to each end of the elastic band. These looped handles can attach to a user's limb without any need for grasping. The non-elastic end of the device can be affixed to an anchor point. The exercise device offers light but adjustable resistance via a resistance modulator, allowing the user to engage in a full range of standing and seated exercises with forces comparable to swimming. In addition, two instances of the device can be combined to engage both the user's hands and feet simultaneously.
