Abstract:
A manual apparatus of the present invention enables quick connection and disconnection of an exoskeleton leg from a remaining body of an exoskeleton. The apparatus comprises a cavity defined by a housing coupled to the remaining body of the exoskeleton; a latch coupled to the remaining body of the exoskeleton, the latch comprising a latching feature; a clip body including a projection element extending from an end thereof, the clip body coupled to the exoskeleton leg; a handle rotatably coupled to a clip base on the clip body; and a hook rotatably coupled to the handle. When the hook is engaged with the latching feature and the handle rotated from a first unlatched position to a second latched position, the projection element moves inside the cavity.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to medical devices and methods of their use. More particularly, the disclosure relates to devices and methods that are used to treat a variety of physical and/or mental conditions. The disclosed devices and methods selectively apply pressure to the soles of the foot in chosen areas which are known to affect treatment so that one or more specific treatments can occur.
Abstract:
A self-operated, or therapist assisted, apparatus particularly adapted for massaging a user's body parts affected by repetitive strain injuries such as tendinitis and carpal tunnel syndrome, comprises two clamping arms joined at a base end and provided with an opening at the other end. Flexible massaging members are mounted on opposite medial sections of the arms. A body part may be placed between the two arms of the device to be acted upon by the massaging members, whereby the body part is adjustably clamped between the pair of massaging members and massaged by translating and rotating movements of the body part along an axis perpendicular to the mounting axes of the massaging members. Alternatively, one of the arms of the apparatus may be separated from the apparatus and used independently to massage body parts that otherwise would not fit between the arms of the apparatus.
Abstract:
According to one aspect of the disclosure, a massage device for a vehicle seat is provided. The message device includes a linear series of inflatable massage cells which are to be arranged in succession below a cover of a backrest or a seat body of the vehicle seat, supply and venting lines to and from the massage cells. A compressed air pump is connected to the supply inventing lines. A valve arrangement is provided for the selective supply of massage cells with compressed air and for the selective venting of massage cells. A control unit is provided for controlling the compressed air pump and the valve arrangement, said control unit being arranged for carrying out massage functions by controlling the compressed air pump and the valve arrangement according to a predetermined sequence set individually by the user for the selective inflation and venting of massage cells in the linear series.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention include methods and devices for increasing blood flow and controlling the temperature of a mammal. The device generally includes collapsible and pliant body elements, capable of expanding from a first volume into an expanded second volume which can then be reduced from the expanded second volume into a pressurized third volume. One or more thermal exchange units can be positioned in the one or more collapsible and pliant body elements. Accordingly, the temperature of the extremity of a mammal can be regulated by providing heating or cooling to the one or more thermal exchange units.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for rehabilitating a lower leg muscle provides therapy for the lower leg muscle by simultaneously stretching the lower leg muscle and soaking the lower leg muscle in a therapeutic solution. This dual action therapy results in treatment of calf strains and/or Achilles tendon tears and the like. The apparatus includes a lower leg stretching component and a therapeutic soaking component. A synergy is created between the two components that addresses different anatomical considerations for the lower leg. Both the stretching and soaking components are performed inside a container. The stretching component includes a plate on which the foot rests. The plate pivots on a fulcrum. A strap passes around the plate and is pulled at the front end to stretch the lower leg muscle. The leg muscle provides resistance to the pulling action. A therapeutic solution fills the container, such that the stretching and soaking are performed simultaneously.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a passive gravity assist flexion device, principally for knee joint flexibility; having such arrangement to provide appropriate content stable elevated support of the posterior intersection, concerning the femur and tibia of an impaired knee joint; whereby promoting gravity assist passive flexion towards gradual comfortable knee joint muscle stretching. The disclosed device arrangement comprised of a padded single knee posterior horizontal support bar, capable of desired lateral rotational movement, while firmly affixed mid-span atop a vertical linear traveling height adjustment threaded rod. Whereby adjustment rod thread engagement means establishes and maintains desired knee posterior horizontal support bar height position. Furthermore, the disclosed device utilizes a center base foundation arrangement providing a resolute vertical stable support device.
Abstract:
A dynamic cushion heel-ankle-foot orthosis system is configured to provide controlled tibial progression in a human user. The dynamic cushion heel-ankle-foot orthosis system includes a leg calf shell further comprising a leg calf shell plantar flexion ridge at a lowermost point. A boot shell is rotatably connected to the leg calf shell and further comprising a boot shell plantar flexion ridge at an uppermost point. The boot shell plantar flexion ridge contacts the leg calf shell plantar flexion ridge at a plantar flexion ridges region and rotates no further.
Abstract:
A system including a cold plasma treatment system, including a controller configured to produce an electrical signal that generates cold plasma, a cold plasma applicator coupled to the controller, including a roller with at least one cold plasma generating region and at least one massage region, wherein the cold plasma applicator is configured to provide a cold plasma treatment and a massage treatment with the at least one cold plasma generating region and a massage treatment with the at least one massage region.
Abstract:
Insole compression systems apply intermittent pressure to a foot or other body part, for example in order to increase circulation and facilitate removal of metabolic waste. The insole compression systems, including actuators and batteries, may be fully contained within a removable insole, and are thus discreet and easy to use. In exemplary insole compression systems, extension springs and a torsion spring interact with an a-frame to deliver an approximately constant extension force.
