Abstract:
The proposed apparatus and method relate to restorative sports medicine and patient rehabilitation with neurological motoric disorders. A patient is positioned in equilibrium by suspension devices for patient's body parts. The suspension devices are moved by actuating mechanisms with an electro-pneumatic drive and actuating components, controlled by a programmed computer, motivating the patient by controlling an object in a virtual gaming environment, to restore movements when there is an initially minimal or a complete absence of physical activity. The effectiveness is judged according to the reduction of energy consumption of the drives. The apparatus includes a base composed of two parallel guides with movable crossbars, on which the actuating mechanisms are pairwise movably arranged, monitoring and control units, the computer, sensors detecting the state of the actuating mechanisms, and power sources. There are units for analyzing the energy consumption of each drive and for assessing the treatment results.
Abstract:
In order to improve the use of a medical support and compression stocking, it is proposed that the stocking (10) shall comprise a woven- or knitted-fabric-type base element (20) that is substantially tubular and that can be pulled over the lower leg of the wearer. Moreover, the stocking comprises at least one air chamber (30) that can be filled with air. The air chamber (30) is designed in a tubular shape along the length of the support and compression stocking. The stocking further comprises an electronic unit that is equipped with a micropump and a valve for the air supply, the micropump being provided with a valve, a current source, preferably a rechargeable battery and control electronics including a wireless data transfer unit. The pressure values of the at least one air chamber can be regulated by means of the data transfer unit and a software stored in the electronic unit.
Abstract:
Apparatus, systems, and methods are sized and configured to effectively and efficiently augment the flow of fluid within body vessels, not only during conditions in which a patient is bedbound and immobile, but also in conditions when the individual is out of bed, and completely mobile and ambulatory.

More particularly, disclosed is a system for controlling pool/spa components including a display screen and one or more processors presenting a control user interface for display on the display screen, wherein the control user interface includes a home screen comprising a first portion containing a first plurality of buttons and/or controls for controlling a first group of the plurality of pool/spa components associated with a first body of water, and a second portion containing a second plurality of buttons and/or controls for controlling a second group of the plurality of pool/spa components associated with a second body of water.
Abstract:
A method for interpreting patient treatment results and data is described. The Method uses an electric chiropractic adjusting instrument and software program and preferably comprises the following steps of adjusting a spine of a patient using the electric chiropractic adjusting instrument; gathering electric chiropractic instrument adjustment thrust data, patient spine response to thrusts of the electric chiropractic adjustment instrument, and objective clinician findings; recording the electric chiropractic instrument adjustment thrust data, the patient spine response to the thrusts, and the objective clinician findings in a database; providing real time results and findings; and generating reports based on the thrust data, the patient spine response to the thrusts of the electric chiropractic adjustment instrument, and the objective clinician findings.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention include a system having at least one sensor configured to monitor a muscle oxygen saturation (SmO2) level of a patient who is undergoing cardiac arrest and to generate a signal representing SmO2 level; a user interface device; a processor communicably coupled to the user interface device, the processor configured to cause the user interface device to present an array of two or more possible nodes of a clinical decision support tree, wherein at least one of the nodes indicates cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) treatment of the patient with no ventilation, and wherein at least another of the nodes indicates CPR treatment of the patient with active ventilation; determine which of the two or more possible nodes should be emphasized based on the SmO2 level; and update the array of the two or more possible nodes based on the determination.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an improved cranial device with a rotary inclination detector, including a container box which can be secured to the cranium of sleeping person and which contains an electric motor and an eccentric counterweight coupled thereto, forming a vibrator. The device also includes a battery or a battery holder for at least one battery, which is provided with two axially opposed projecting contacts or studs. The container box is provided with inclined formations with dielectric properties, on which the battery or battery holder can roll by means of the studs thereof, and two electric contacts on which the inclined formations terminate, such that, when the battery holder is placed on the electric contacts, the motor circuit is closed, thereby activating the vibrator.
Abstract:
System and methods for testing and/or training a subject's visual ability are provided. More specifically, the method may include testing various aspects of the subject's visual acuity, such as clarity, contrast, tracking, etc. By using various tests, a more efficient examination may be administered. In accordance with the invention, an individual may be tested using methods of testing and/or training at a unitary center, where the unitary center is capable of presenting visual tests to the individual, receiving input from the individual, and processing the received input. Such a unitary test center may further be configurable, so that the tests administered may vary based on the needs of the individual. The received input may then, for example, be used to compute data related to the user's visual acuity, both overall and for each individual test.
