Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a unique new approach to generating operating condition information used for assessing flow assurance and structural integrity. More specifically, apparatuses, systems and methods configured in accordance with embodiments of the present invention enable multiplexed arrangement of optical fiber for sensing of operating conditions within a structural member and utilize fiber optic sensors for enabling monitoring of operating condition information within one or more elongated tubular members. To this end, fiber optic sensors are strategically placed at a plurality of locations along a length of each elongated tubular member thereby allowing critical operating conditions such as strain, temperature and pressure of the elongated tubular member and/or a fluid therein to be monitored. A multiplexing unit is used for allowing selective configuration of individual lengths of optical fiber for creating one or more contiguous optical fiber structures.

A flame detector may comprise a housing; a window attached to the housing, wherein the window allows radiation to pass through to the interior of the housing; a transmitter configured to emit electromagnetic radiation; a receiver configured to receive electromagnetic radiation emitted by the transmitter; and a plurality of angled surfaces configured to direct the electromagnetic radiation from the transmitter through at least a portion of the window and toward the receiver.

Abstract: Various embodiments related to an electronic device and a method for controlling sensitivity of a sensor on the basis of window attributes are described. According to an embodiment, an electronic device may include: a housing; a window cover housed in the housing, in which an attribute of at least a partial area may be changed via an electrical control on the basis of at least one attribute; at least one sensor disposed below at least the partial area; and at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor is configured to identify control information related to an operation of changing the attribute of at least the partial area on the basis of the at least one attribute, to determine a sensitivity related to the at least one sensor corresponding to the at least one attribute at least on the basis of the control information, and to acquire peripheral information of the exterior of the electronic device by using the at least one sensor, at least on the basis of the determined sensitivity.

Abstract: Various embodiments include systems and methods to provide selectable variable gain to signals in measurements using incident radiation. The selectable variable gain may be used to normalize signals modulated in measurements using incident radiation. The selectable variable gain may be attained using a number of different techniques or various combinations of these techniques. These techniques may include modulating a modulator having modulating elements in which at least one modulating element acts on incident radiation differently from another modulating element of the modulator, modulating the use of electronic components in electronic circuitry of a detector, modulating a source of radiation or combinations thereof. Additional apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: Online calibration of laser performance as a function of the repetition rate at which the laser is operated is disclosed. The calibration can be periodic and carried out during a scheduled during a non-exposure period. Various criteria can be used to automatically select the repetition rates that result in reliable in-spec performance. The reliable values of repetition rates are then made available to the scanner as allowed values and the laser/scanner system is then permitted to use those allowed repetition rates.
