    Abstract: A method for engine braking on a type III valvetrain diesel engine comprises, on a first downstroke of a reciprocating piston, deactivating a normal intake lift profile on a first intake valve to implement a deactivated intake profile. Before a first upstroke of the reciprocating piston completes, a late intake valve closing lift profile is actuating on a second intake valve and beginning an engine brake lift profile on a first exhaust valve. On a second downstroke of the reciprocating piston, the engine brake lift profile on the first exhaust valve is completing and a normal exhaust lift profile is deactivating on a second exhaust valve to implement a deactivated exhaust profile on the second exhaust valve. Before a second upstroke of the reciprocating piston completes, a second engine brake lift profile is beginning on the first exhaust valve.

    Abstract: A rocker arm can comprise a forked outer arm assembly and a T-shaped inner arm assembly comprising an inner arm body comprising a valve side, a latch side, a bearing hole on the valve side, and a latch body on the latch side, the latch body comprising inner arm extensions extending away from the latch body. A pivot axle can connect the outer arm assembly to the inner arm assembly so that the inner arm assembly is configured to pivot with respect to the outer arm assembly. A latch assembly can comprise a latch configured to selectively extend to and retract from a latch seat on the latch body to selectively lock the inner arm assembly with respect to the outer arm assembly or unlock the inner arm assembly to pivot within the outer arm assembly.

The method includes: monitoring a rotational speed of a crankshaft of the 6-cylinder engine: monitoring a gear selection of the transmission; and operating the 6-cylinder engine in one of Order 3, Order 1.5 or Order 1 based on whether the selected Order avoids operating the 6-cylinder engine at a critical speed that corresponds to a natural harmonic frequency of the driveline, wherein priority is given to operating in Order 1.5, Order 1 then Order 3, in that order.

    Abstract: A switching rocker arm comprises an outer arm having a pair of integrally formed axles extending outwardly therefrom and an inner arm pivotally secured to the outer arm. A is latch slidably connected to the outer arm and is configured to selectively extend to engage the inner arm. An inner roller is configured on the inner arm, and a pair of outer rollers is mounted on the respective integrally formed axles on the outer arm. A rocker arm for variable valve lift comprises an outer arm comprising outer arm portions, rollers mounted in a cantilevered manner to the outer arm portions, and an inner arm seated between the outer arm portions, the inner arm comprising an inner roller. A pivot axle connects the outer arm and the inner arm. The inner arm and the outer arm are pivotable with respect to one another about the pivot axle.
