    Abstract: A type II valve train assembly that selectively opens first and second intake valves and first and second exhaust valves is provided. The valve train assembly includes an intake rocker arm assembly and an exhaust rocker arm assembly. The valve train assembly is configurable for operation in any combination of activated and deactivated states of engine braking and cylinder deactivation. The exhaust rocker arm assembly includes a first exhaust rocker arm, a second exhaust rocker arm and an engine brake exhaust rocker arm. A first exhaust HLA is associated with the first exhaust rocker arm. A second exhaust HLA is associated with the second exhaust valve. An exhaust actuation assembly selectively actuates to alter travel of the first and second exhaust HLA's to change a state of cylinder deactivation between activated and deactivated.

    Abstract: A valvetrain assembly comprises a valve bridge, a capsule, a first rocker arm, and a second rocker arm. The valve bridge comprises an upper surface comprising a central pressure point and an offset pressure point and a lower surface comprising a lower pivot point, a first valve interface, and a second valve interface. The capsule can be connected to the lower pivot point, the capsule configured to provide to the pair of engine valves one or both of a lash adjusting function and a deactivating mode. The first rocker arm is configured to actuate against the central pressure point to transfer a first valve lift mode to the valve bridge. The second rocker arm is configured to actuate against the offset pressure point to transfer a second valve lift mode to the valve bridge.

    Abstract: A rocker arm assembly comprises a valve side rocker arm portion, a cam side rocker arm portion configured to selectively rotate relative to the valve side rocker arm portion, and a latch pin assembly disposed in the valve side rocker arm portion and in the cam side rocker arm portion. A latch pin assembly is disposed for selective switching in the valve side latch bore and in the cam side latch bore. At least a portion of the latch pin assembly is configured so that when the latch pin assembly is selected to switch from a latched condition to the unlatched condition, and when the cam side rocker arm portion selectively rotates, the latch pin assembly is configured to retract from the forces of the rotation.

    Abstract: A rocker arm assembly can comprise a main rocker arm and a latch assembly. A latching arm can control the latch assembly and thereby control the extent to which a secondary rocker arm acts on the main rocker arm. The main rocker arm can comprise a main body configured to rotate around a rocker shaft, a valve end extending from the main body, a reaction end extending from the main body, and a latch bore. A bias pin can extend from the main body. The latch assembly can be configured to selectively rotate in the latch bore. The latch assembly can comprise a first latch end comprising a switch plate configured to receive actuation force on a first side and to receive bias force from the bias pin on a second side. A second latch end can comprise a first latch seat and a second latch seat.

    Abstract: A hydraulic capsule can comprise a hollow capsule body for setting the location of a plunger, a latch set alignable with a latch groove, and a latch-setting insert. The plunger can be configured to push the latch set towards the latch-setting insert. A lost motion spring can be incorporated into the hydraulic capsule, or the lost motion spring can be installed in capsule bore where the hydraulic capsule is mounted. Either a hydraulic capsule or an electromagnetic capsule or a drop in assembly can be installed in a capsule mount in a rocker arm to form a type III cam-actuated rocker arm. The rocker arm can comprise a cam side arm and a valve side arm. The rocker arm can be configured to balance a moment of inertia of the deactivation components. Twisting forces on the cam can be counteracted.
