Abstract: An apparatus for providing a balance to objects attached to the apparatus. The apparatus comprises an annular body, drive assemblies, two hoops, and a harness. The annular body is placed around an object. Each drive assembly comprises a primary sheave radially and rotatably disposed on the annular body, a first secondary sheave rotatably disposed on the annular body above the primary sheave, a second secondary sheave rotatably disposed on the annular body below the primary sheave, and a motor for rotating the primary sheave. The two hoops comprise a first hoop rotatably supported between the primary sheave and the first secondary sheave and a second hoop rotatably supported between the primary sheave and the second secondary sheave. Rotating the primary sheave rotates the first hoop in a first direction and the second hoop in a second direction for generating the balance. The harness attaches the apparatus to the object.

Abstract: The learning system includes a data generation unit configured to generate learning data based on rehabilitation data and a learning unit configured to perform machine learning using the learning data. A sensor is provided to detect a plurality of motion amounts in a walking motion of a trainee, and it is evaluated that, when one of the motion amounts matches one of abnormal walking criteria, that the walking motion is an abnormal walking pattern that meets the matched abnormal walking criterion. The data generation unit generates each of the pieces of rehabilitation data before and after a change in the results of evaluation of the abnormal walking pattern as learning data. The learning unit sequentially inputs each of the pieces of rehabilitation data as one data set, thereby performing machine learning.

Abstract: A system and method for aiding in the proper placement of ECG electrodes and other resuscitation parameters. The system includes motion sensors disposed on the ECG electrodes, and a defibrillator control system operable to interpret motion signals from the motions sensors to determine that an electrode is in motion, and thus being handled by rescuer setting up the system for use, and, based on this determination, prompt the rescuer to place the electrode in its intended location on the body of the patient. The control system may also be operable to determine relative motion and/orientation of the motion sensors and control resuscitation based on the relative motion and/orientation of the motion sensors.

Abstract: Systems and methods for an improved walker are provided. The inventive walker allows for greater control over the speed of the walker. More specifically, wheels having specific characteristics may be used to control the speed of rotation of the wheels. For instance, the wheel may include an inner wheel assembly including a coil or coils, and an outer wheel assembly including a magnet or magnets. A magnetic field may be created using current through the coils, which in turn limits the speed with which the outer wheel assembly can be rotated relative to the inner wheel assembly. The present invention also includes a control system used to control the speed and other characteristics of the walker. The present invention may also collect associated data and display of the same which can help determine future activities associated with the walker.

Abstract: A patient brace system and method of using the same are disclosed for treatment of lower extremity injuries. Described brace systems include a crutch, at least one crutch sensor, a patient brace, at least one controller, and a rehabilitation application. The crutch sensor(s) measure one or more crutch parameters. The controller(s) are operable to receive and process a signal(s) indicative of the crutch parameter(s) and produces patient gait data that, in turn, is communicated to a data hub. In some embodiments, the patient brace may also include at least one brace sensor configured to similarly communicate with the data hub. The rehabilitation application is communication with the data hub and determines a response output based on the information fed to the data hub, the application then communicating the response output to at least one of a caregiver, a user of the patient brace, and/or to the patient brace.
