Abstract: An oil filter for a motor vehicle has a filter cartridge which is disposed in an oil filter housing of the oil filter. The filter cartridge has a channel for filtered oil which is surrounded at least regionally by a filter material in the radial direction. At least one through opening is formed in a wall of the channel. An emergence of filtered oil via the at least one through opening into a channel for the filtered oil provided on sides of the oil filter housing is preventable by bringing the filter cartridge into a first position. An inlet into the channel provided on sides of the oil filter housing fluidically connectable to the at least one through opening by bringing the filter cartridge into a second position in which the filter cartridge is shifted relative to the first position in an axial direction.

Abstract: A filter cartridge having an endplate formed of polyurethane having a varying hardness is described. A first portion of the endplate is harder than a second portion of the endplate. The first portion of the endplate helps support the filter media of the filter element and maintain the shape of the filter element. The second, softer portion creates a seal between the filter element and a filter housing when the filter element is installed in the filter housing. The first portion and separate portions may be formed from different types of polyurethane or from the same type of polyurethane having a varying composition as a function of the radial distance of the endplate.

Abstract: A filter device for filtering hydraulic liquid is provided, which has a housing having a housing upper part and a housing lower part. The housing upper part has a housing inlet and a housing outlet. A filter element is arranged in the housing lower part. The filter element has a dirty side in communication with the housing inlet and a clean side in communication with the housing outlet. The housing upper part comprises a convexly curved interior wall. An insertable flow-guiding element is arranged in the housing upper part which divides the housing upper part into a dirty region and a clean region. The dirty region is in communication with the dirty side of the filter element and the housing inlet opens into the dirty region. The clean region is in communication with the clean side of the filter element and the housing outlet leads out of the clean region.

Some cartridge configurations provided include no core structure or outer liner structure therein, to support axial load. Assemblies using the cartridge, and methods of assembly and use, are provided. The liquid filter cartridge can be a serviceable cartridge, or it can be retained permanently in a housing.

Abstract: A replacement filter element having a removable pin attached to the filter element is described. The removable pin is attached to the filter element via a first interference fit. When the replacement filter element is installed into a filtration system having a drain valve with an internal draft, the removable pin seals onto the drain valve and forms a second interference fit between the drain valve and the pin. The pin seals an opening in the drain valve. The second interference fit is stronger than the first interference. Accordingly, when the replacement filter element is removed from the filter housing (e.g., during a service event of the replacement filter element), the pin detaches from the replacement filter element and remains positioned within the drain valve thereby preventing fluid from leaking from the housing when the filter element is removed. The pin permanently plugs the drain valve once installed.

Abstract: A fluid conditioning unit is provided that includes a housing, a cap, a cartridge device, and a filter cartridge. The cap is threadably secured to and unsecured from the housing by rotation about an axis of the housing. The cap forms a removable seal with the housing when secured thereto. The cartridge device is secured to the cap in a manner that restricts movement of the cartridge device with respect to the cap along the axis but allows rotation of the cartridge device with respect to the cap about the axis.
