Abstract:
A thermoplastic prepreg includes a mat, web, or fabric of fibers and hollow glass microspheres that are positioned atop the mat, web, or fabric of fibers or dispersed therein. The thermoplastic prepreg also includes a thermoplastic polymer that is fully impregnated through the mat, web, or fabric of fibers and the hollow glass microspheres so that the thermoplastic prepreg has a void content of less than 3% by volume of the thermoplastic prepreg. The thermoplastic material is polymerized monomers and oligomers in which greater than 90% by weight of the monomers or oligomers react to form the thermoplastic material.
Abstract:
A multi-beam LED emitter unit is provided that combines multiple LED emitter modules, each equipped with at least one LED for emission of UV radiation of a wavelength below 430 nm or IR radiation of a wavelength above 780 nm. Each LED emitter module includes a housing equipped with a radiation exit window and is designed as an insertion assembly for a docking station. The docking station includes at least one connecting means for establishing a form-fitting mechanical connection to the housing and one plug element of an electrical plug connection. The housing includes a rear side including a mechanical counterpart corresponding to the connecting means and a counter element corresponding to the plug element. The connecting means and the corresponding mechanical counterpart are arranged such that establishing the form-fitting mechanical connection is associated with establishing an electrical connection between plug element and counter element.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a system for manufacturing a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) prepreg includes a mechanism for continuously moving a fabric or mat and a resin application component that applies a methyl methacrylate (MMA) resin to the fabric or mat. The system also includes a press mechanism that presses the fabric or mat during the continuous movement subsequent to the application of the MMA resin to ensure that the MMA resin fully saturates the fabric or mat. The system further includes a curing oven through which the fabric or mat is continuously moved. The curing oven is maintained at a temperature of between 40° C. and 100° C. to polymerize the MMA resin and thereby form PMMA so that upon exiting the curing oven, the fabric or mat is fully impregnated with PMMA.
Abstract:
A procedure for the application of a seal (3) onto a surface of a device housing (1,2) for a motor vehicle, especially a motor vehicle door lock housing surface, comprising the following procedural steps: the surface is at least partially cleaned and/or micro structured by a heat source (4) restricted in area; and a sealant is applied to areas of the surface treated in such a way.
Abstract:
Methods and associated compositions are described for applying onto a substrate a cured coating that includes at least one layer of a water-borne basecoat and one layer of clearcoat and that requires a maximum total curing time of less than about 45 minutes. Further described are methods and associated compositions for applying onto a substrate a cured coating that includes at least one layer of primer, at least one layer of a water-borne basecoat and at least one layer of clearcoat and that requires a maximum total curing time of less than about 65 minutes.
Abstract:
A process for providing a uniform coating of one hundred percent solids material on a substrate and a substrate having a uniform coating of one hundred percent solids material. Process parameters are controlled to provide for a sprayable, curable coating of one hundred percent solids material that can be used to coat three dimensional surfaces and provide a uniform thin film layer across all areas of the three dimensional surface.
Abstract:
A method for applying coatings to a portion of the internal bore or threads of a fastener or similar article having an opening on at least one end is provided. A 360° coating with material is provided using centrifugal force to assist in direction the material to a desired surface, which does not require use of a pressurized air stream in order to propel the coating material toward the walls of the article desired to be coated.
