Abstract: A method of making a heat generating catalyst for hydrocarbon cracking. The method includes providing at least one mordenite framework-inverted (MFI) zeolite having a Si/Al molar ratio of 15 or greater and providing at least one metal oxide precursor. Further, the at least one metal oxide precursor is dispersed within a microstructure of the MFI zeolite catalyst. The method additionally includes calcining the heat generating material with the at least one metal oxide precursor dispersed within the microstructure of the MFI zeolite catalyst to form at least one metal oxide in situ. The heat generating catalyst includes at least one MFI zeolite and at least one metal oxide in a ratio between 50:50 and 95:5. Additionally, an associated method of using the heat generating catalyst in a hydrocarbon cracking process is provided.

Abstract: A process for the joint preparation of 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene and 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene, comprising: (a) starting materials comprising at least one compound having the structure of formula I, II or III is reacted with hydrogen fluoride, producing 1,2,3-trichloro-3,3-difluoropropene, 1,2,3-trichloro-1,1,2-trifluoropropane, and 1,2,3-trichloro-1,1,3-trifluoropropane; in the compounds of said formulae CF2−mClm=CCl-CHF2−nCln (Formula I), CF3−pClpCHCl=CH2Cl (Formula II), and CF3−xClxCF2−yClyCHF2−zClz (Formula III), m=0, 1, 2; n=1, 2; p=2, 3; x=1, 2, 3; y=1, 2; z=1, 2 and 4≦x+y+z≦6; (b) the 1,2,3-trichloro-3,3-difluoropropene, 1,2,3-trichloro-1,1,2-trifluoropropane and 1,2,3-trichloro-1,1,3-trifluoropropane undergo dechlorination, producing 3-chloro-3,3-difluoropropyne, 3-chloro-2,3,3-trifluoropropene and 3-chloro-1,3,3-trifluoropropene; and (c) the 3-chloro-3,3-difluoropropyne, 3-chloro-2,3,3-trifluoropropene and 3-chloro-1,3,3-trifluoropropene are reacted with hydrogen fluoride, simultaneously yielding 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene and 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropen.FIG. 1 is designated as the drawing of the Abstract.

Abstract: A long life catalyst is provided that is conveniently and inexpensively capable of being produced and that is highly active and has inhibited metal leakage. According to aspects of the present invention, a catalyst is provided that includes: a polymer including a plurality of first structural units and a plurality of second structural units; and metal acting as a catalytic center, wherein at least part of the metal is covered with the polymer, each of the plurality of first structural units has a first atom constituting a main chain of the polymer and a first substituent group bonded to the first atom, a second atom included in each of the plurality of second structural units is bonded to the first atom, and the second atom is different from the first atom, or at least one of all substituent groups on the second atom is different from the first substituent group.

Abstract: In a method of manufacturing a bimetallic catalyst for reductively decomposing nitrate nitrogen, a powder including a trivalent iron oxide, a powder including a trivalent iron oxyhydroxide powder or a combination thereof is mixed in an aqueous solution. A copper precursor and a palladium precursor are mixed in the aqueous solution to form a precursor mixture. The precursor mixture is dried. The dried precursor mixture is fired at a temperature from about 300° C. to about 450° C. to form a fired product. The fired product is reduced by a reducing agent. A hydrochloric acid solution is mixed in the aqueous solution, or mixed with the copper precursor or the palladium precursor.

Abstract: A process of forming a direct NOx catalyst includes the steps of providing a palladium salt, providing a silicon oxide support material, mixing the palladium salt and silicon oxide support material in an aqueous solution, evaporating the aqueous solution forming a solid, calcining the solid, and then exposing the calcined solid to a pretreatment gas at a specified temperature to form a desired direct NOx catalyst. When the process includes exposing the calcined solid to helium gas at a temperature of from 650 to 1000° C. the catalyst may include a mixture of palladium and palladium oxide having a particle size of from 5 to 150 nm where the palladium particles are discrete particles without sintering and the mixture may include 41% by weight palladium oxide and 51% by weight palladium metal.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalyst composition comprising cobalt molybdenum and optionally one or more elements selected from the group consisting of alkali metals and alkaline earth metals on a carbon support wherein said cobalt and molybdenum are in their metallic form. It was surprisingly found that the selectivity for alcohols can be increased by using the carbon supported cobalt molybdenum catalyst as described herein in a process for producing alcohols from a feed stream comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide. Furthermore, it was found that the catalyst of the present invention has a decreased selectivity for CO2 and can be operated at relatively low temperature when compared to conventional catalysts. Moreover, a method for preparing the carbon supported cobalt molybdenum catalyst composition and a process for producing alcohols using said carbon supported cobalt molybdenum catalyst composition is provided.

Abstract: In an example of a method for forming a catalyst, a polymeric solution including a platinum group metal (PGM) is exposed to electrospinning to form carbon-based nanofibers containing PGM nanoparticles therein. An outer surface of the carbon-based nanofibers containing the PGM nanoparticles is coated with a metal oxide or a metal oxide precursor. The carbon-based nanofibers are selectively removed to form metal oxide nanotubes having PGM nanoparticles retained within a hollow portion thereof.
