    Abstract: A system includes a reciprocating engine, the reciprocating engine includes a poppet valve having a first valve end and a second valve end. The poppet valve includes a valve head having the first valve end. The valve head may open and close a fluid passageway within the reciprocating engine. The poppet valve also includes a stem extending from the valve head and having a first length. The stem has the second valve end and the second valve end is substantially opposite the first valve end. The poppet valve also includes a cavity aligned with a centerline axis of the poppet valve. The cavity includes a first region disposed within the valve head and a second region disposed within the stem, and the second region has a second length that is shorter than the first length. The poppet valve further includes a metal alloy disposed within the cavity. The metal alloy is in a liquid-phase during operation of the reciprocating engine and may transfer heat from the valve head to the stem.

    Abstract: A valve timing varying device includes a housing rotor (20) composed of a front side housing member (22) and a rear side housing member (21), a vane rotor (30), and an urging spring (40) for rotationally urging the vane rotor in one direction with respect to the housing rotor. The urging spring has a coil part, a first end provided outside in a radial direction with respect to the coil part, and a second end provided inside in the radial direction with respect to the coil part. The front side housing member has a first latching concave part for latching the first end on an inside wall face. The vane rotor has an accommodation concave part for accommodating at least a part of the coil part at the front end side, and a second latching concave part for latching the second end in an area facing an opening.

    Abstract: A variable valve device for an internal combustion engine for varying operating characteristics of engine valves by changing a relative rotational phase of a camshaft to a timing sprocket has an electric motor that rotates the camshaft relatively to the timing sprocket, a cover member provided to cover a front end section of the electric motor, and an angle sensor that detects a rotational angle position of a motor output shaft. The angle sensor includes a detected unit provided inside of a top end section of the motor output shaft and a detecting unit provided on the cover member so as to be opposed to the detected unit through a minute clearance. A metal disk-shaped reinforcing plate is molded and fixed inside of a cover main body of the cover member mainly formed of a synthetic resin material, thus enhancing the entire rigidity of the cover main body.

    Abstract: A switching rocker arm assembly constructed in accordance to one example of the present disclosure includes an outer arm, an inner arm, a bearing axle, and a first and second torsional bearing axle spring. The outer arm has a first outer side arm and a second outer side arm. The outer arm further includes a first tang extending from the first outer side arm and a second tang extending from the second outer side arm. The outer arm defines a first slot inboard of the first tang and a second slot inboard of the second tang. The first torsional bearing axle spring is mounted around a first torsional spring boss and has a first end nestingly received at the first slot and a second end engaged to the bearing axle. The first ends of the first and second torsional springs are laterally constrained by the respective first and second tangs.

    Abstract: A lifter includes a roller caused to abut against a cam thereby to be pressed and a lifter body rotatably supporting the roller and housed in a guide hole of a lifter guide so as to be reciprocable in the guide hole. The lifter body includes a cylindrical part and a rotation stopper. The cylindrical part has an outer periphery formed into a cylindrical shape such that the outer periphery is slidable on an inner periphery of the guide hole. The cylindrical part has one of two axial ends, the one end being formed with a skirt covering the roller. The rotation stopper is formed to protrude outward from the other axial end of the cylindrical part, the other axial end being located opposite a side where the skirt is located. The rotation stopper prevents the lifter body from being rotated about an axis thereof relative to the lifter guide.
