Abstract: The tempered portable wash unit generally includes a container having an interior for selectively receiving and retaining a select quantity of fluid. A dispenser may be coupled with the container and be in fluid communication with the fluid retaining interior, the dispenser being actuable between a first closed position restricting outflow of fluid from the container and a second open position permitting dispensing fluid from the container. A heat trace cable may couple with the container and be positioned therewith for generating variable heat along its length thereof in response to changes in localized temperatures to generally maintain the temperature of the fluid within the container within a desired threshold temperature comprising a range of 60° F. to 100° F. in ambient atmospheric temperatures as low as −30° Fahrenheit (“F”) and in compliance with an ANSI Class 1 Div. 1 classification.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate aids for the visually impaired. An apparatus to assist a visually impaired person in navigating an environment includes a head-worn computer, a radar system mounted on the head-worn computer and positioned to measure distances to objects in the environment within an angular field in front of the visually impaired person wearing the head-worn computer, and a processor adapted to process the measured distances from the radar system and to identify objects in the environment that are within the angular field in front of the visually impaired person. The processor is further adapted to generate feedback cues to the visually impaired person in correspondence to the measured distances within the angular field in front of the visually impaired person as the visually impaired person moves his head from side to side while navigating the environment.

Abstract: Dry eye treatment apparatus and methods are described herein which generally includes a patch or strip affixed to the skin of the upper and/or lower eyelids to deliver heat or other forms of energy, pressure, drugs, moisture, etc. (alone or in combination) to the one or more meibomian glands contained within the underlying skin. The treatment strip or strips include one or more strips configured to adhere to an underlying region of skin in proximity to one or both eyes of a subject such that the one or more strips allow for the subject to blink naturally without restriction from the one or more strips. Moreover, the one or more strips may be configured to emit energy to the underlying region of skin and where the one or more strips are shaped to follow a location of one or more meibomiam glands contained within the underlying region of skin.

Abstract: An embodiment of a system for treating sleep apnea includes a collar, a pump, and a motor. The collar has a vacuum surface and has a sealing surface that is configured to form a seal with a region of a neck of a subject having an airway. The pump is secured to the collar, and is configured to maintain the airway open by drawing a vacuum between the vacuum surface of the collar and a region of a throat of the subject. And the motor is secured to the collar and is configured to drive the pump. As compared to existing systems (e.g., a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) system) for treating sleep apnea, the above-described system may be more portable, more comfortable, may be less likely to require adjustment while a subject using the system is asleep, and, therefore, may be less likely to awaken the subject.

Abstract: The present disclosure concerns an adjustable bed facility including a system for executing a computer-based safety-action during a motor-actuated adjustable bed position adjustment, comprising an adjustable bed facility comprising a computer-based controller, an actuator, and a sensor, the computer-based controller providing control of adjustable bed position adjustments, the actuator configured to adjust a height of the adjustable bed facility upon receiving a height-adjustment command from the computer-based controller, and the sensor for determining an actuator action parameter measured value of the actuator, the computer-based controller in communicative connection with the sensor to monitor and compare the motor action parameter measured value to an actuator action parameter normal operation value range, and when the controller determines the monitored motor action parameter measured value is outside the range of the actuator action parameter normal operation value range the controller sends a safety-action command to the actuator.
