Abstract:
In automated gluing systems for semiconductor device manufacture, an automatic shutter system is provided for use with an adhesive dispenser that is configured to deposit adhesive for joining elements during final assembly processes. A shutter is configured to interpose itself between a needle tip of the dispenser and a working surface, on which devices in process are positioned, while the dispenser is in a ready position and not actually delivering adhesive, and to withdraw from the interposed position as, or immediately before the needle tip descends to a dispensing position to deposit adhesive on a device. In this way, drops of adhesive that fall from the needle tip while in the ready position are captured by the shutter and prevented from falling onto a device in process in an unintended location of the device.
Abstract:
The present invention is concerned with a process for forming a very well defined pattern of particulate material in a composite material comprising a web material and particulate absorbent material. The present invention relates also to a method for determining the equipment design and process parameter for such a process. In a particular application, the present invention provides a process for preparing liquid absorbent structures, such as may be useful for disposable absorbent articles.
Abstract:
An improved system for application of liquid streams to a substrate. The system incorporates open face flow channels for carrying the liquid away from fully enclosed flow segments prior to discharge along an unconstrained flow path. The present invention further provides an improved, self-aligning modular assembly for delivery of impingement jet to the liquid streams for diverting the direction of the liquid streams. The present invention further provides an improved arrangement for collection of the deflected liquid in response to application of the impingement jet without excess residue build-up.
Abstract:
In a paint plant which comprises at least one spray-painting device incorporating at least one application unit for painting workpieces and in particular motor vehicle bodies with a fluid paint, in order to enable the fluid paint overspray i.e. the paint particles which are not adhering to the workpieces that are to be painted and which are picked up and carried along in an air flow passing through the application area of the paint shop, to be re-separated from this air flow and also to enable the cleansed air flow to be returned to the application area in an air re-circulating system or else expelled into the environment of the plant, the paint shop comprises a device for separating fluid paint overspray from a stream of crude gas that contains overspray particles wherein this device comprises at least one filter element for separating the overspray from the stream of crude gas.
Abstract:
The present invention is method for forming a sandwich structure having a pattern of particulate material enveloped between a carrier material and a cover material. The method allows accurate forming of pre-determined pattern at high production speed. Such a method is particularly useful in the manufacture of disposable absorbent articles, such as baby diapers.
Abstract:
A first coating rod placed on an upper-surface side of a resin film is pressed onto the resin film in a state where the first coating rod is circumscribed and supported by support members each comprising a pair of rollers and spaced with intervals therebetween in a length direction of the first coating rod so that the first coating rod is rotated in a forward direction at a speed substantially equal to that of the resin film, and a lower surface of the resin film is supported by a guide roll or a second coating rod placed on a downstream side of the first coating rod and an upstream side of a tenter so that the coating liquid continuously measured and supplied to an upper surface of the resin film is smoothened by the first coating rod.
Abstract:
A device for the application of at least two liquid to pasty application media to one or both sides of a moving surface, having a curtain applicator for applying the application media. The curtain applicator discharges the application media onto the moving surface as curtains moving substantially under the force of gravity, and the moving surface being one of a surface of a material web and a surface of a transfer element, which transfers the application media to the surface of the material web. The device includes a collecting device for the separate collection of each application medium. The collecting device being positionable between the curtain applicator and the material web. The curtain applicator and the collecting device being movable relative to each other.
Abstract:
A system for forming a drug-polymer coated stent includes means for applying a polymeric coating onto at least a portion of a stent framework, means for drying the applied polymeric coating on the stent framework and means for directing a jet of heated gas towards excess coating portions of the dried polymeric coating that extend into apertures of the stent framework. The system also includes means for reflowing the polymeric coating with the directed jet of heated gas to remove the excess coating portions from the apertures of the stent framework.
Abstract:
An apparatus for processing anisotropic films obtained from a liquid crystal solution containing at least one organic compound comprises means for holding a substrate carrying an anisotropic film and a processing facility including at least one channel or a system of connected channels, wherein the channel(s) is (are) provided with an input connected to means for supplying a working fluid and an output connected to a rarefaction or vacuum system, and at least a part of the channel(s) is open on the side of processed film. Means for moving the processing facility is provided to move the processing facility to the substrate. Means for pressing the processing facility to the surface of the anisotropic film and/or substrate is also provided.
Abstract:
An fountain applicator for applying coating liquid onto a web of paper carried past the applicator, has a coating liquid flow path that includes a curved surface along which a sheet of the coating liquid is flowed to subject the sheet to centrifugal force to cause air entrained in the coating liquid to move away from one side of the sheet that is toward the curved surface, so that the one side is relatively free of entrained air. After being flowed along the curved surface, the sheet of coating liquid is directed toward the web in a free standing jet curtain of coating liquid, to contact the web surface primarily with the one relatively air-free side of the coating liquid sheet to decrease the occurrence of skip coating on the web surface, especially when the web is traveling past the applicator at high speeds. The coating is applied in excess onto the web surface and is metered and leveled to a desired coat weight by a downstream doctor. The downstream doctor may comprise a single metering device, or it may comprise an intermediate metering device followed by a final metering and leveling device.
