Abstract:
A method is provided that forms a solid film on a bearing component of a rolling bearing. A solution containing a fluorine compound and a lubricant having no functional group is allowed to adhere to the bearing component as a liquid film, the fluorine compound containing 3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate, hexafluoropropene, and methyl methacrylate as components. The solid film is formed on the at least one of the bearing components by hardening the adhering liquid film.
Abstract:
Provided is a manufacturing method in which a coated solder wire having a dense polysiloxane coating film that is uniformly provided over the entire surface of the solder wire can be efficiently obtained in a single process. A coated solder wire is obtained by a manufacturing method that includes; a radicalization step for forming a radicalized organic silicon compound by mixing a reaction gas that has been plasmatized under atmospheric pressure and an organic silicon compound that is introduced by way of a carrier gas, and radicalizing that organic silicon compound; a reaction area formation step for forming a reaction area that is defined by a helical gas flow and in which the radicalized organic silicon compound is uniformly dispersed; and a coating step for forming a 4 nm to 200 nm thick polysiloxane coating film on the surface of a solder wire by transporting a solder wire inside the reaction area and causing the radicalized organic silicon compound to react with metal on the surface of that solder wire.
Abstract:
An installation for forming a compact film of particles on a surface of a carrier fluid, including: a zone acting as a reservoir of carrier fluid; an inclined ramp; a particle storage and transfer zone situated extending from the inclined ramp; a mechanism moving the fluid; a mechanism dispensing the particles in solution, configured to dispense the particles at the surface of the carrier on the surface of the carrier fluid in the zone acting as a reservoir; and a mechanism raising a level of the carrier fluid by capillary effect, arranged at a junction between the zone acting as a reservoir and the inclined ramp.
Abstract:
Treated, mesoporous aggregates comprising a plurality of coated particles that comprise an inorganic oxide core having a surface area of about 50 to about 500 square meters per gram and a shell or coating consisting of an array of fluoroalkyl molecular chains covalently bonded to the core at a density of at least one chain per square nanometer. The aggregates are formed by the chemical attachment of fluoroalkyl-alkylsilanes after exposure to an alkylamine and followed by an extraction to remove any unbound organic material. The dense packing of molecular chains in the fluoroalkyl shell combined with a mesoporous structure imparts a very low surface energy, a very high specific surface area, and surface texture over a wide range of length scales. Such features are highly desirable for the creation of, for example, superhydrophobic and superoleophobic surfaces, separation media, and release films.
Abstract:
An object of the invention is to provide a fishhook for fishing or the like, the fishhook being easily stuck to a fish or the like and being also excellent in durability. The surface of a fishhook is treated with a compound selected from the group consisting of a metallic surfactant having at least one or more hydroxyl groups or hydrolyzable groups, a fluorine-based surface treating agent, a thiol compound and a disulfide compound.
Abstract:
A robust and self-healing coating has been developed by incorporating a thermally self-healing chemical coating on smooth and/or roughened solid. When the chemically coated solid is combined with a lubricating fluid, the material system is capable to repel a broad range of liquids and solids. The thermally self-healing chemical coating may be applied on various industrial metals, glass and plastics, and has shown exceptionally physical and chemical robustness as compared to state-of-the-art liquid-repellent coatings.

An installation for forming a compact film of particles on a surface of a carrier fluid, including a zone acting as a reservoir of carrier fluid, an inclined ramp, a particle storage and transfer zone, a mechanism moving the carrier fluid, a mechanism for dispensing the particles in solution, configured to dispense the particles on the surface of the carrier fluid in the zone acting as a reservoir, and a structure for deflecting the particles configured to favor, along a transverse direction of the installation, spreading of the particles at the outlet of the zone acting as a reservoir. The structure for deflecting particles is permeable to the carrier fluid.
Abstract:
In a method for applying an easily cleanable surface to a domestic article, a polymer surface layer is deposited by one or more nozzles on at least a part of the surface of the domestic article by plasma polymerization in the presence of an atmospheric pressure plasma based on at least one precursor.
Abstract:
A refinish coating system comprising (I) an intermediate coating composition and (II) a topcoat coating composition is useful for repairing a damage area of a silicone hard coat layer on an automotive resin glazing substrate. The intermediate coating composition (I) comprises (A) a reactive siloxane compound and (B) silica. The topcoat coating composition (II) comprises (C) an alkoxysilane having a UV-absorbing functional group, (D) a multifunctional alkoxysilane, (E) a reactive siloxane compound, (F) colloidal silica, and (G) phosphoric acid. The system forms a coating having the same appearance and physical properties as the underlying silicone hard coat layer.
Abstract:
A method and product for creating a customizable fabric for specific end-use composites is provided. This method includes creating a three-dimensional matrix on woven fabrics, such as glass or carbon fiber fabrics via the addition of nanoparticles and a coupling agent; and, attaching a functional group compatible to specific resins dependent upon end use. The resulting product is a resin-free fabric with specific functional groups attached, ready to receive a particular polymer resin. Alternatively, the process may continue through to the addition of a polymer resin, resulting in a completed composite product.
