Abstract: Technologies for managing fault recovery in a cloud computing environment may be used after faults of various sizes, including faults which put total functioning capacity below subscribed capacity. Computing services have repair priorities. A fault recovery manager selects a higher priority service whose capacity is below a minimum availability, and chooses a lower priority service still above its minimal availability, and reassigns capacity from the lower priority service to the higher priority service without depriving the lower priority service of operability. Capacity reassignment continues at least until the higher priority service is at or above minimal availability, or the lower priority service is at minimal availability. Lower priority services may also be terminated entirely to free up resources for higher priority services. New deployments may be prevented until all services are at or above minimal availability. Spare capacity may be reserved against demand fluctuations or further faults.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a screening method includes performing a first screening operation on a memory device at a first temperature to detect a defect in magnetoresistive effect elements of the memory device, replacing a first magnetoresistive effect element that is determined as defective in the first screening operation by substituting a second magnetoresistive effect element disposed in a redundancy area of the memory device for the first magnetoresistive, and performing a second screening operation on the memory device at a second temperature higher than the first temperature if the first screening operation detects a defect. Each of the first screening operation and the second screening operation includes writing data into the magnetoresistive effect element, reading data from the magnetoresistive effect element after the writing, and determining a magnetoresistive effect element is defective when the data as written does not match the data as read.

Abstract: In one aspect, a method includes splitting empty RAID stripes into sub-stripes and storing pages into the sub-stripes based on a compressibility score. In another aspect, a method includes reading pages from 1-stripes, storing compressed data in a temporary location, reading multiple stripes, determining compressibility score for each stripe and filling stripes based on the compressibility score. In a further aspect, a method includes scanning a dirty queue in a system cache, compressing pages ready for destaging, combining compressed pages in to one aggregated page, writing one aggregated page to one stripe and storing pages with same compressibility score in a stripe.

Abstract: A computer system is configured to provide a database system. The computer system comprises one or more processors, a primary database system implemented by the one or more processors, and a secondary database system implemented by the one or more processors. The secondary database system is configured as a hot-standby system for the primary database system. Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for implementing conditional storage operations. Storage clients access and allocate portions of an address space of a non-volatile storage device. A conditional storage request is provided, which causes data to be stored to the non-volatile storage device on the condition that the address space of the device can satisfy the entire request. If only a portion of the request can be satisfied, the conditional storage request may be deferred or fail. An atomic storage request is provided, which may comprise one or more storage operations. The atomic storage request succeeds if all of the one or more storage operations are complete successfully. If one or more of the storage operations fails, the atomic storage request is invalidated, which may comprise deallocating logical identifiers of the request and/or invalidating data on the non-volatile storage device pertaining to the request.
