Abstract:
An MFP receives notification of a power state of a networked client apparatus or PC from the PC and updates user management information in accordance with the power state of the PC. The MFP determines a security level in real time in accordance with the state of the power supply of the networked client apparatus that is stored in the user management information, and sets the determined security level for the MFP.
Abstract:
In an information processor connected with an external apparatus by wireless to transmit and receive data, a connection with a plurality of external apparatuses can be easily changed. The information processor includes a wireless USB (WUSB) communication unit configured to connect to each of a plurality of external apparatuses by wireless to transmit and receive data to and from each external apparatus. A CPU acquires information about at least one external apparatus among a plurality of external apparatuses via the WUSB communication unit. The acquired information is displayed on a display unit before the communication is started to perform image processing between the information processor and one of a plurality of external apparatuses via the WUSB communication unit.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus which make it possible to search from an information processing apparatus, for an IPv6-compatible image processing apparatus which has an IPv6 network address designated by the information processing apparatus. A device management application determines search conditions, and specifies information associated with a designated network. Further, the device management application generates a IPv6 multicast address using the thus specified information, transmits a search message designating the IPv6 multicast address, and receives a response transmitted from an image processing apparatus associated with the IPv6 multicast address.
Abstract:
A system and method for facilitating environmentally informed print job selection are provided. The method includes assigning a status to each of a set of networked printers, the status of an operational printer denoting a printer as being one of at least awake, asleep, and waking up soon. The assigned status is provided to a graphical user interface, enabling a user to compare the status and/or environmental costs of printing with user selectable ones of the set of printers.
Abstract:
A function execution device connected to at least one other device includes: a memory storing a plurality of setting values corresponding to a plurality of setting items; an execution portion executing a function by using the plurality of setting values; a screen data supply portion supplying, to a display device, device screen data for showing a device screen, on which a user selects a target device from the at least one other device, and item screen data for showing an item screen, on which the user selects at least one setting item from the plurality of setting items; an acquisition portion that acquires device information about the target device; and a transmission portion transmitting, to the target device, at least one setting value corresponding to the at least one setting item selected by the user on the item screen, among the plurality of setting values stored in the memory.
Abstract:
In a system provided with an information processing apparatus for requesting a job, an image forming apparatus for processing the job, and a server for managing the job, it is enabled to request a job from the information processing apparatus for execution even when the server is down at least to a status where the job can not be received. The image forming apparatus is provided with a detecting portion for detecting that the server is down, a direct receiving portion for, when it is detected that the server is down, directly receiving a target job to be processed by the image forming apparatus from the information processing apparatus, and a distributing portion for, when it is detected that the server is down, distributing a message or an e-mail including information indicating that the server is down to the information processing apparatus or a user of the information processing apparatus.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus is connected to a specific network for processing an image according to image information input to the image processing apparatus. The image processing apparatus includes an apparatus information storage unit for storing apparatus information of other apparatus connected to the network; an inquiry unit for inquiring an operational state of the other apparatus according to the apparatus information stored in the apparatus information storage unit; a determining unit for determining the operational state of the other apparatus according to an inquiry result of the inquiry unit; and a switching control unit for switching an operational state of the image processing apparatus between an active state and a power save state according to a number of apparatus that the determining unit determines as being in the active state.
Abstract:
An apparatus for outputting an image is provided. The apparatus includes a detection portion that detects a state of electronic paper placed on a predetermined location, and a transmission portion that sends, to the electronic paper, image data for displaying an image depending on the state of the electronic paper.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus including: a first email creator to create a first email including first header information and a message body based on a user's request; a second email creator to create a second email including second header information containing a request for acquisition of a status of an external apparatus when the first email is created and to send the second email to the external apparatus; an email analyzer to receive a third email containing a status response to the second email from the external apparatus and to analyze the third email to output an analysis result of whether the external apparatus can receive an email; and a controller to send the first email when the analysis result is that the external apparatus can receive and to notify the user that the external apparatus cannot receive when the analysis result is that the external apparatus cannot receive.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus includes an interface, a detector, a manager, a usage interruption unit, and a determination unit. The interface is for connecting to a peripheral device to form a connected peripheral device. The detector is for detecting a connection and a disconnection between the interface and a peripheral device. The manager is for managing device specifying information that specifies the connected peripheral device. The usage interruption unit is for setting a connected peripheral device to a usage interruption state. The determination unit is for determining whether the usage interruption unit set the connected peripheral device to the usage interruption state. The manager may manage a reconnected peripheral device using device information that existed before the connected peripheral device was disconnected from the interface.
