Abstract:
A nozzle for discharging first and second fluids in a spray pattern into a vessel, such as oil and steam in a catalytic cracking unit, includes various configurations for preventing erosion of the outlet portion of the nozzle that otherwise might be due, for example, to contact with a catalyst or other predetermined substance. In one such nozzle, the exterior surface of the outlet portion substantially conforms to the internal contour of the vessel. In another such nozzle, the outlet portion defines a plurality of substantially concentric, substantially elliptical-shaped outlet apertures. In another nozzle, the outlet portion is formed of ceramic and is connected to the inlet portion by a metal connector. In another nozzle, the outlet portion defines a plurality of apertures angularly spaced about a peripheral region of the outlet portion for discharging a substantially flat fan spray pattern, and a second outlet portion extending along an upstream portion of the outlet portion for discharging at least part of its spray to prevent any catalyst from contacting the downstream surfaces of the outlet portion.
Abstract:
An insert, a system, and a method are provided for dispensing a compressed gas product. The insert includes a swirl chamber, inlet ports to the swirl chamber, and an outlet orifice. The insert has specifically configured parameters relating to the diameter of the swirl chamber, the diameter of the outlet orifice, the length of the outlet orifice, and the depth of the swirl chamber. The insert, system, and method can provide a dispensed compressed gas product with a remarkably constant flow rate and with a remarkably constant particle size.
Abstract:
A nozzle and sprayer system for aerosolizing liquid for its even application to foliage. The frustoconical nozzle housing body defines a longitudinal axis, a wall, a proximal portion, and a distal portion, the housing wall at the distal portion being thicker than the housing wall at the proximal portion, and an air chamber defined by the housing wall of the proximal portion. The housing also defines a plurality of tapered air conduits that are spirally and radially arranged about the longitudinal axis that create a vortex in expelled air. The housing also defines a liquid conduit defining a bend. The outlets of the plurality of air conduits are radially arranged about the outlet of the liquid conduit, such that fluid ejected from the outlet of the liquid conduit into the vortex is sheared to create a fog or mist of small liquid particles suspended in air.
Abstract:
A fuel injection valve includes a nozzle body including an injection aperture; a needle that is slidably located in the nozzle body, forms a fuel introduction path between the needle and the nozzle body, and is seated on a seat portion in the nozzle body; a swirling flow generating portion that is located more upstream than the seat portion, and imparts a swirl with respect to a sliding direction of the needle to fuel introduced from the fuel introduction path; a swirl velocity increasing portion that is located more downstream than the seat portion, and increases a swirl velocity of a swirling flow generated in the swirling flow generating portion; and an air bubble reserving portion that is located more downstream than the swirl velocity increasing portion, and reserves air bubbles generated by passage through the swirl velocity increasing portion. The injection aperture opens in the air bubble reserving portion.
Abstract:
An internal mix air atomizing spray nozzle assembly having a nozzle body that defines a central liquid flow passage, an air guide for directing pressurized air within the nozzle, and a downstream air cap having an upstanding impingement post and a plurality of discharge orifice defining passages about the impingement post. The air cap passages each are oriented at compound angle with respect to a central axis for discharging atomized liquid flow streams in a conical spray pattern swirling in a predetermined rotative direction about the central axis, and the impingement post has a diffuser cap that defines a flat central liquid impingement surface and an outer annular array of non radial diffuser veins for directing the atomized liquid and pressurized air in a swirling fashion about the impingement post in the same relative direction as the swirling spray pattern from the air cap passages.

The applicator assembly includes a manifold configured for operable engagement with at least a first and second source of component, the manifold including at least a first and second component channel therethrough, an elongated shaft extending distally from the manifold, the elongated shaft including at least a first and second component lumen extending the length thereof, the at least first and second component channels in fluid communication with the at least first and second component channels, a tip assembly defining a first chamber, an intermediate chamber and a final chamber.
Abstract:
A combustor for a gas turbine engine is disclosed which is able to operate with high combustion efficiency, and low nitrous oxide emissions during gas turbine operations. The combustor consists of a can-type configuration which combusts fuel premixed with air and delivers the hot gases to a turbine. Fuel is premixed with air through a swirler and is delivered to the combustor with a high degree of swirl motion about a central axis. This swirling mixture of reactants is conveyed downstream through a flow path that expands; the mixture reacts, and establishes an upstream central recirculation flow along the central axis. A cooling assembly is located on the swirler co-linear with the central axis in which cooler air is conveyed into the prechamber between the recirculation flow and the swirler surface.
Abstract:
A nozzle for generating an aerosol from a fluid and a gas is described. The nozzle comprises at least one wettable cone-shaped gas exit channel that widens in a direction of gas flow from a cone apex to a cone base of the wettable cone-shaped gas exit channel and is connected at the cone apex to a nozzle gas supply channel. The nozzle further comprises at least one annular fluid exit port at the circumference of the cone base that is connected to a nozzle fluid supply channel. Further, a nozzle holder is described. The nozzle holder comprises a cylindrical crown comprises a plurality of circumferentially spaced grooves that are connected to the ring-shaped fluid exit port.
