Abstract: The present disclosure provides an article having a substrate having a first nanostructured surface and an opposing second surface; and a conductor micropattern disposed on the first surface of the substrate, the conductor micropattern formed by a plurality of traces. The micropattern may have an open area fraction greater than 80%. The traces of the conductor micropattern may have a specular reflectance in a direction orthogonal to and toward the first surface of the substrate of less than 50%. The nanostructured surface may include nanofeatures having a height from 50 to 750 nanometers, a width from 15 to 200 nanometers, and a lateral spacing from 5 to 500 nanometers. The articles are useful in devices such as displays, in particular, touch screen displays useful for mobile hand held devices, tablets and computers. They also find use in antennas and for EMI shields.

Abstract: A system for repositioning teeth a patient from an initial tooth arrangement to a final tooth arrangement includes a plurality of incremental position adjustment appliances, each having an arrangement of cavities shaped to receive and reposition teeth of the patient. The cavities in at least one appliance in the system have a different geometry than that of at least one other appliance in the system. At least some of the appliances in the system are successively worn by the patient to exert force on at least one tooth and move the teeth of the patient from a first arrangement to a successive arrangement different from the first arrangement. The system includes a first multilayer shell with a bending stiffness factor less than about 0.1 GPa*mm3 and an elastic modulus no greater than about 1.5 GPa; and a second shell with a bending stiffness factor greater than 0.1 GPa*mm3.

Abstract: A method of thermoforming is described. The method comprises providing a multilayer polymer film comprising at least one first thermoplastic polymer layer having a glass transition temperature (Tg) greater than 60° C. and at least one second polymer layer; and thermoforming the multilayer polymer film into a three-dimensional shape. The second polymer layer can be characterized by one or more properties selected from i) a Tg ranging from 20 to 70° C.; ii) a molecular weight between crosslinks of no greater than 20,000 g/mole; and iii) sufficient crosslinking such that the second polymer layer lacks a thermal melt or softening transition at a temperature up to the decomposition temperature of the second polymer layer. Also described are multilayer films and articles, such as orthodontic aligner and retainer trays.

Abstract: A multilayer film comprises first, second, and third layers. The first layer comprises at least one aromatic polyester, and has a loss modulus at 1 hertz and 25° C. of at least 70 megapascals. The second layer is thermoplastic and has a loss modulus at 1 hertz and 25° C. of less than or equal to 60 megapascals and comprises a thermoplastic elastomer and a polyamide. The third layer contacts the second layer opposite the first layer and has a loss modulus at 1 hertz and 25° C. of at least 70 megapascals. The second layer is sandwiched between the first and third layers. A method of making the multilayer film by coextrusion is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method for making a dental appliance configured to position at least one tooth of a patient includes printing a hardenable liquid resin composition on a major surface of a polymeric material to form a pattern of discrete unhardened liquid regions thereon; at least partially hardening the unhardened liquid regions to form a corresponding array of structures on the major surface of the polymeric material, wherein the structures have a characteristic cross-sectional dimension of about 25 microns to about 1 mm, and a feature spacing of about 100 microns to about 2000 microns; and forming a plurality of cavities in the polymeric material to form the dental appliance including an arrangement of cavities configured to receive one or more teeth.

Abstract: A dental appliance includes a polymeric shell with a plurality of cavities for receiving one or more teeth, including an interior region with a core layer of a first thermoplastic polymer A with a thermal transition temperature of about 70° C. to about 140° C. in and a flexural modulus greater than about 1.3 GPa, and first and second interior layers of a second thermoplastic polymer B with a glass transition temperature of less than about 0° C. and a flexural modulus less than about 1 GPa; and first and second exterior layers of a third thermoplastic polymer C with a thermal transition temperature of about 70° C. to about 140° C. and a flexural modulus greater than about 1.3 GPa. Interfacial adhesion between any of the adjacent layers in the polymeric shell is greater than about 150 grams per inch.
