Abstract:
A medical device such as an external cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) device delivers chest compressions to a patient. The patient may shift and/or slide within the CPR chest compression structure if the CPR chest compression structure is tilted from the horizontal, however. A tilt module is used to sense a tilt event, report it to a user of the CPR chest compression machine, and cause the CPR chest compression machine, user, or tilt module to respond to the tilt event. Response can be pausing the CPR chest compression machine, having the user reposition the CPR chest compression machine, or the like.
Abstract:
A patient support apparatus includes a patient support structure, such as a bed frame or mattress or both, that is configured to support a patient in a recumbent position. The patient support structure is configured to provide at least one therapy to a patient. A therapy enabler token is coupleable to the patient support structure. The at least one therapy is disabled when the therapy enabler token is decoupled from the patient support structure and the at least one therapy is enabled in response to the therapy enabler token being coupled to the patient support structure.
Abstract:
A method of operating a portable, foldable, and multifunctional mobility aid apparatus that assists a user in standing, sitting, and/or walking process. The apparatus has an integrated power source and is based on 4 wheels. Users can stand on it and drive it as an electric mobility device, or disable it and use it as a passive walker. The apparatus has a pair of supporting beams with adjustable width to be placed under the user armpits and support the user in standing up, sitting down, and/or moving around. The apparatus can be controlled by a control panel mounted on a pair of handles, and its functions can be controlled by the user with no need for help from another person. The apparatus can be minimized by a combination of multiple telescopic vertical minimization mechanisms and multiple folding mechanisms.
Abstract:
A compression therapy system for treating deep vein thrombosis in disclosed. The system provides sequential, graduated compression to a selected limb or body part. The system includes a portable compression device having multiple outlets. In one embodiment, up to three outputs may be selectively activated by a user. The wraps may be provided with cold therapy wraps. In a second embodiment, the system utilizes a timer to determine which, if any, of several wraps may be attached and inflates a detected wrap to a correct pressure or powers off the system as may be appropriate.
Abstract:
A control system for controlling an exoskeleton worn by a user and having one or more actuators associated with various body members of the exoskeleton each corresponding to a body part of the user. The control system comprises a user interface for receiving input data indicative of a desired movement sequence, a memory component for storing pre-programmed movement data indicative of one or more sequential instructions required to effect the movement sequence, each instruction being associated with relative actuator movements for performing the instruction, and an actuator controller for moving the one or more actuators according to the relative actuator movements for each instruction. The control system also comprises a terrain sub-system for adjusting the actuator movements upon detection of a change in terrain slope and a balance control sub-system for periodically adjusting the balance of the exoskeleton during relative movement of the one or more actuators.
Abstract:
A magnetic conveyance system comprising a support structure having a ferromagnetic capacity and a trolley moveable upon the support structure in a plurality of directions. The trolley may include a trolley frame and at least one attractor cell disposed on the trolley frame. The at least one attractor cell may comprise a housing and at least one magnet, at least one friction reducing load spreading device, and a load transfer member disposed within the housing. The magnet may provide a magnetic attraction force between the trolley and the support structure. The friction reducing load spreading device may comprise a plurality of bearing balls circulating within a reservoir and a channel formed by the load transfer member disposed within the housing. The load transfer member may also include a bearing surface wherein a portion of the plurality of bearing balls is disposed between the bearing surface and the support structure.
Abstract:
The present invention is a knee pad bracket, which comprises: a first frame, having a first arc portion and two first support rods; a second frame, having a second arc portion and two second support rods, the first arc portion defines a first accommodation room; a third frame, having a third arc portion and two third support rods; a fourth frame, having a fourth arc portion and two fourth support rods to define a second accommodation room; two pivot axes, pivotally disposed at two corresponding sides of the first, second, third, and fourth frame and pivotally connected with the first, second, third, and fourth support rod; a first elastic element, which two ends being disposed on a same side of the first and second frame; and a second elastic element, which two ends being disposed on a same side of the third and fourth frame.
Abstract:
A wearable ultrasound device and method of using the device includes a power controller with a power source and at least one integrated circuit that delivers electrical power to an applicator. The applicator is electrically coupled to the power controller and a surface of the applicator transmits ultrasound to a wearer for a given duration. The applicator includes radio frequency (RF) drive electronics, an ultrasound transducer coupled to the drive electronics, a monitoring apparatus that includes a thermal cutoff coupled to the drive electronics, where the monitoring apparatus monitors a temperature of the applicator surface and the thermal cutoff turns off the applicator, if the temperature exceeds a pre-defined threshold, and a coupling bandage coupled to the applicator, where the bandage positions the surface of the applicator proximate to a wearer at a location on the body of a wearer.
Abstract:
A CPR machine (100) is configured to perform, on a patient's (182) chest, compressions that alternate with releases. The CPR machine includes a compression mechanism (148), and a driver system (141) configured to drive the compression mechanism. A force sensing system (149) may sense a compression force, and the driving can be adjusted accordingly if there is a surprise. For instance, driving may have been automatic according to a motion-time profile, which is adjusted if the compression force is not as expected (850). An optional chest-lifting device (152) may lift the chest between the compressions, to assist actively the decompression of the chest. A lifting force may be sensed, and the motion-time profile can be adjusted if the compression force or the lifting force is not as expected.
