Abstract: A leg support exoskeleton is strapped on as a wearable device to support its user during squatting and/or lunging. The exoskeleton includes a knee joint connected to a first link and a second link, which is configured to allow flexion and extension motion between the first link and the second link. A force generator has a first end that is rotatable connected to the first link. A constraining mechanism is connected to the second link and has at least two operational positions. In a first operational position, the second end of the force generator engages the constraining mechanism, where the first link and the second link flex relative to each other. In a second operational position, the second end of the force generator does not engage the constraining mechanism; the first link and the second link are free to flex and extend relative to each other.

Abstract: An apparatus for providing sectional (cervical, thoracic and/or lumbar spine as individual parts) and global spinal (full-total spinal: cervical/thoracic/lumbar simultaneous as a single part) decompression including a head harness that has: a rigid member which extends into the mouth cavity of a user; and an attachment point located substantially at the same distance from the center of the skull as the end of the rigid member; wherein the rigid member comprises a U-shaped mouth guard, the u-shaped mouth guard contacting at least the “rear most” upper set of teeth during use; the attachment point is configured to attach to an external force providing apparatus; the attachment point is configured to provide a force in the direction of the user's height via the mouth guard. The location of the attachment point provides an optimal force vector when the device is pulled away from the head in a direction parallel with the user's height for medical applications associated with decompression of the spine. For comfort, positional placement and stability, a forehead pad and cranial straps may be provided.

Abstract: The present invention is directed toward a device for circumduction of a limb having a base, a vertical support operably coupled to and extending away from the base, a rotary member operably connected to the vertical support, a limb support member operably connected to the rotary member, and a motor drivingly engaged with the rotary member. The vertical support may be a rigid plate member, bracket, or frame. The bracket and/or frame may include at least one vertical member and at least one horizontal member. The rotary member is operably connected to the vertical support such that rotary member is free to rotate. Limb support member receives and supports the limb to be treated and is operably coupled to rotary member at a radial distance from a center of rotation thereby resulting in a circular motion of a limb when the motor is operated.

Abstract: An assembly for active and resistive joint rehabilitation exercises enables a joint, such as a knee, to flex in a controlled, curvilinear motion, while enabling adjustable resistance. In this manner, the joint practices both resistive exercises and active exercises for strengthening, as well as redeveloping range of motions. A base member with stabilizing bars provides lateral support for the assembly. The base member has a recessed docking region. A bracket detachably attaches in the docking region and joins the rails to base member. In this manner, the rails can detachably release from the base member. A lever and a base handle enable assembly to be moved and tilted. A vehicle comprises wheels that ride the rails while the foot rests therein, so that joint extends and retracts the curvilinear motion. An adjustment member increases and decreases friction coefficient between the wheels and rails for adjustable resistance of curvilinear motions.

Abstract: A hip traction device, system, and associated methods are disclosed. Such a device may include a base having a proximal end and a distal end, a guide coupled to the base, a carrier configured to move along the guide upon receiving a force from a tensioner to move the carrier toward the distal end of the base, causing a leg to be put in tension, and a single body coupling mechanism either removably attachable or permanently attached to the carrier and configured to securely attach to a lower portion of a leg, such that the portion of the leg moves with the carrier during operation of the tensioner.

Abstract: Described herein are methods for determining a target musculoskeletal activity cycle (MSKC) to cardiac cycle (CC) timing relationship. The method may include detecting a first characteristic of a signal responsive to a CC timing of a user that repeats at a frequency that corresponds to a heart rate of the user; detecting a second characteristic of a signal responsive to a rhythmic musculoskeletal cycle activity (MSKC) timing of the user that repeats at a frequency that corresponds to the MSKC rate of the user; determining a value representative of an actual timing relationship between the first characteristic and the second characteristic; detecting a third characteristic of a signal corresponding to a physiological metric that varies with the actual timing relationship between the first and second characteristics; and determining a target value representative of a preferred timing relationship between the first and second characteristics.

Abstract: The driving system comprises: a first support structure; a second support structure supported by the first support structure for rotation about a stationary axis of rotation; a first actuation unit having a first motor device and a first output member; and a second actuation unit having a second motor device and a second output member. The first output member is drivingly connected with the second support structure for rotation about the first axis of rotation. The first motor device controls the rotation of the first output member, along with the second support structure, about the first axis of rotation. The second output member is supported by the second support structure for rotation about a second axis of rotation.
