Abstract: A method and apparatus for dispensing a fluid in a conduit and more particularly for dispensing lubricant within an electrical conduit for facilitating pulling electrical cables through the conduit. The apparatus is in the form of a cartridge disposed in the conduit at an end thereof. The cartridge is made of a pair of sealed and separable members. One of the members is a flanged sleeve forming the casing of the cartridge, in which is coaxially disposed the other member forming a tubular support member or carrier for a mass of resilient and absorbent lubricant impregnated porous material compressibly packed between the inner surface of the sleeve casing and the carrier. A cable pulling strand, or fishtape, is passed through the tubular carrier, and the cables to be pulled through the conduit are attached to the end of the fishtape. A plug inserted in the open end of the tubular carrier prevents the fishtape and the cables attached thereto from being pulled back through the carrier. The carrier separates from the sleeve casing when a pull is exerted on the other end of the fishtape. The mass of resilient and absorbent material supported by the carrier expands to the inner diameter of the conduit when leaving the sleeve casing and absorbs part of an additional supply of lubricant contained in the cartridge. Pulling the lubricant-impregnated mass of resilient and absorbent material on the carrier ahead of the electrical cables coats the wall of the conduit with a film of lubricant.

Abstract: A pipe lining apparatus includes a distributor head which throws cement mortar centrifugally against the interior of a pipe, a trowel which smooths the cement mortar and a liquid coating spray applicator which applies a curing control substance to the trowelled lining. The spray applicator comprises an air atomizing device which produces a very fine coating spray and blows it onto the freshly applied mortar lining without disturbing the lining. Also, in one embodiment the coating spray application is mounted to swing laterally with the trowel so as to be maintained centrally in the pipe.

Abstract: The method involves injecting into the hollow member adjacent its upper end a body of the material for coating the interior of the member, and then forcing the body of coating material downwardly while forcing an annular portion of the material laterally outwardly into engagement with the walls of the hollow member. This is done by a brush having bristles facing outwardly and of sufficient flexibility to enable them to pass through a stricture of a predetermined degree in the hollow member and to expand when not in such strictures so that at all times the bristles are in close proximity to the inner surface of the hollow member and spread the coating material therealong, pushing the extra coating material ahead to subsequently coat lower portions of the interior of the hollow member. Part of the coating material will escape past the brush to the space thereabove, and when the brush reaches the lower extremity of the hollow member it will be retracted to coat the interior of the hollow member a second time upon upward movement of the brush to the upper end to the hollow member. The means for coating include a brush assembly made up of one or more brushes sized and constructed as above stated, disposed singly or one above the other in multiple, and having a weight connected thereto above or below the brush or brushes, of sufficient density and small enough cross section so that the brush assembly as a whole will move downwardly through the hollow member at a rate greater than would the material for coating the hollow member under the force of gravity alone. Means is provided for retracting the brush assembly after the downward coating trip.
