a) at least one nonionic or anionic unsaturated monomer in an amount ranging between about 78 wt. % to less than 100 wt. % based on the overall weight of the polymer composition
b) one or more strong acid monomer in an amount ranging from about 0.01 wt. % to 2 wt. % based on the overall weight of the polymer composition; and
c) at least one lower alkyl acrylate monomer in an amount ranging between about 1 wt. % to 20 wt. % based on the overall weight of the polymer composition.-

Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition comprising 1) an aqueous dispersion of polymer particles having a core-shell morphology wherein the core protuberates from the shell and comprises less than 0.09 structural units of a phosphorus acid monomer, based on the weight of the core; and 2) pigment particles with a refractive index in the range of from 2.0 and 3.0, wherein the pigment volume concentration of the pigment particles is at least 11. The composition of the present invention is useful for improving block resistance in coatings applications.

Abstract: Provided are a copolymer having enough biocompatibility to be used in a medical material application, and a method of forming a crosslinked body, which involves modifying a substrate surface with the copolymer so that the surface may be biocompatible. More specifically, a protein adsorption-suppressing effect and a cell adhesion-suppressing effect, which are features of a phosphorylcholine group, are imparted to the substrate surface. It has been found that the object is achieved by a copolymer containing a phosphorylcholine constitutional unit, a hydrophobic constitutional unit, and a photoreactive constitutional unit at a specific ratio.

Abstract: A method for making an ophthalmic lens includes following steps of providing a suspension liquid and a lens substrate, the suspension liquid comprising a hydrophilic polymer, a clay, and water; and applying the suspension liquid on at least one surface of the lens substrate to cause the clay to be dispersed on the surface of the lens substrate and the hydrophilic polymer to be bonded to the surface of the lens substrate through the clay, thereby forming a hydrophilic layer on the surface of the lens substrate to obtain the ophthalmic lens. The disclosure also provides an ophthalmic lens.

Abstract: Copolymers and latex paint compositions using such copolymers that are heat-age stable and provide good adhesion, block resistance, and hiding all while using lower amounts of titanium dioxide are described herein. In one aspect, the heat-age stable compositions include an acrylic, styrene acrylic, vinyl acrylic copolymer or blends thereof including, as additional polymerizable units, at least one polymerizable phosphate surfactant and at least one linear or branched hydrophobic monomer that are both polymerized into the acrylic, styrene acrylic, vinyl acrylic copolymer backbone.
