Abstract: A coating device includes a head, an arm, and a controller. The head includes a nozzle surface. The arm holds the head. The controller controls movement of the head via the arm. The controller vibrates the head in a second direction intersecting a first direction, and/or rotationally oscillates along a nozzle surface while moving the head in the first direction along the nozzle surface in a state where the nozzle surface and a to-be-coated object face each other.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing laminated printed matter includes the steps of ejecting, by an ink jet process, a colorant-containing active-radiation-curable ink composition onto a recording medium; ejecting, by an ink jet process, a colorant-free or white-pigment-containing active-radiation-curable ink composition into a non-image area adjoining an image area formed by the colorant-containing ink composition; curing the ejected colorant-containing ink composition and the ejected colorant-free or white-pigment-containing ink composition by irradiation with active radiation to form an image layer; and laminating a lamination film on a surface on which the image layer has been formed. Laminated printed matter has, in sequence, an image layer and a lamination film. The image layer is composed of an image area and a non-image area. The non-image area is formed of a cured product selected from the group consisting of transparent cured products and white cured products. The non-image area adjoins a side of the image area in a direction along the plane of the recording medium.

Abstract: Overvarnished aluminum cans which are not usable because of label graphic errors or other reasons are conditioned for reuse by first treating the existing overvarnish to accept an opaque new layer of overvarnish. The opening of the can is engaged with a plug having a pin communicating with a pressurized gas supporting the can on a wheel to supply gas pressure according to the rotational position of the pin. The overvarnished can is pressurized to allow printing an opaque new layer of overvarnish on to the can over the existing overvarnish. The treated can is visually inspected and the internal coating resprayed, and the opaque overvarnish and the internal coating are cured in a final curing oven, the can being then ready for printing of new graphics or sold as a brite, silver or blank can where other graphics can be applied.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an adhesive tape of thickness 40 to 300 μm that can be redetached without residue or destruction by stretching essentially in the plane of the bond, comprising at least one carrier of thickness 10 to 150 μm comprising at least one layer based on preferably uncrosslinked thermoplastic polyurethane that has typically been produced by means of extrusion and has a Shore A hardness of not more than 87, where the carrier has a ratio of force at 400% elongation F400% to breaking force Fbreak of not more than 45%, and on which a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is disposed on at least one side, and wherein the adhesive tape has a ratio of stripping force Fstrip to breaking force Fbreak of less than 60%. The invention also relates to an adhesive tape of thickness 40 to 300 μm that can be redetached without residue or destruction by stretching essentially in the plane of the bond, comprising at least one carrier of thickness 10 to 150 μm comprising at least one layer based on preferably uncrosslinked polyurethane that has been produced from a dispersion and has a modulus at 100% elongation of not more than 1.8 MPa, where the carrier has a ratio of force at 400% elongation F400% to breaking force Fbreak of not more than 30%, and on which a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is disposed on at least one side, and wherein the adhesive tape has a ratio of stripping force Fstrip to breaking force Fbreak of less than 60%. The invention also relates to a process for producing the adhesive tapes and to the use thereof for bonding of components in electronic devices.

Abstract: A method for coating a tile element includes providing a tile element made of a compressed fibre material having a porosity in the range of 0.92-0.99 and applying a water-based coating material to a side edge surface of the tile element extending between two opposite major surfaces of the tile element. The applying is performed by an applicator head of a continuous vacuum coating apparatus that applies the water-based coating material to the side edge surface of the tile element and removes excess through a vacuum. The water-based coating material is applied at a feeding rate of the tile element relative the applicator head in the range of 25-150 m/min. The water-based coating material forms a coating layer including an outer coating layer and an inner coating layer penetrating the side edge surface. The inner coating layer has penetration depth of at least 100 μm.
