Abstract: A streak camera is disclosed which includes an entrance slit forming a first end of the streak camera, the entrance slit having a width and height, an image capture device forming a second send of the streak camera, and an epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) slab defined by a bandgap energy and plasma frequency disposed within the streak camera, the ENZ slab configured to receive two beams with a predetermined delay therebetween, the two beams include i) a witness beam through the entrance slit at an incident angle θ, and ii) a trigger beam at substantially a normal incident angle, wherein the trigger beam applies energy at a level below the bandgap energy of the ENZ slab to thereby modify refractive index of the ENZ slab, and thus generate a modified witness beam at a time-varying exit angle φ(t) onto the image capture device.

Abstract: Metal-free compositions for solar-reflective infrared-emissive coatings and methods of producing the same. The paints are suitable for reducing the temperatures of objects below ambient temperatures between sunset and sunrise (nighttime) and part or full daytime (between sunrise and sunset) when such objects are subjected to direct sunlight. Such a solar-reflective infrared-emissive paint may include a particle-polymer composite containing particles in a polymeric matrix, wherein the particles are nanoparticles or microparticles, the paint does not contain a metallic component, and the paint exhibits high reflectance for the solar spectrum wavelengths of 0.3 to 3 micrometers and high emissivity for wavelengths of 8 to 13 micrometers.

Abstract: A system and method for determining the locations and types of objects in a plurality of videos. The method comprises pairing each video with one or more sentences describing the activity or activities in which those objects participate in the associated video, wherein no use is made of a pretrained object detector. The object locations are specified as rectangles, the object types are specified as nouns, and sentences describe the relative positions and motions of the objects in the videos referred to by the nouns in the sentences. The relative positions and motions of the objects in the video are described by a conjunction of predicates constructed to represent the activity described by the sentences associated with the videos.
