Abstract:
A device that is used to reduce the pain of a needle stick to a person, the device having a casing containing a vibratory device and a temperature reducing device, and a method for using the device to reduce the pain of a needle stick by applying both thermal and vibration analgesia to a subject during a needle stick.
Abstract:
An adjustable bed frame assembly includes a center frame comprising two substantially parallel side frame members connected by two substantially parallel connector frame members. The adjustable bed frame assembly also includes a base frame that includes a plurality of legs for mounting on a floor is rigidly affixed to the center frame. The adjustable bed frame assembly further includes a head frame that comprises two substantially parallel side frame members connected by at least one connector frame member. The adjustable bed frame assembly also includes an actuator for raising and lowering the head frame.
Abstract:
A pressurized medical device comprising an inflatable element arranged to contact a part of a patient; a fluid connector attached to the element and arranged to deliver fluid to the element; a control system arranged to control flow of fluid in the device; a first element pressure sensor arranged to measure the pressure exerted by the element on the part of the patient; and detection means arranged to detect malfunctioning of the first element pressure sensor.
Abstract:
A positioning device for use in apparatus for treating sudden cardiac arrest in a patient in supine position by providing chest compressions at the lower end of the sternum prevents the apparatus from moving in a caudal direction. The apparatus includes a frame enclosing the patient at a sternal transversal plane and a pneumatic compression/decompression unit mounted on the frame. The device includes a flexible strap having a first end, a second end and a tensioning component disposed between the first and second ends. First and second end portions of the strap include a mechanism for attachment to the apparatus. The flexible strap has a mounted tensioned length sufficient to extend around the patient's neck. At least one of the end portions is releasably attached.
Abstract:
An adjustable bed frame assembly includes a center frame comprising two substantially parallel side frame members connected by two substantially parallel connector frame members, a forward connector frame member and a rear connector frame member, wherein the two connector frame members are located within approximately a center one-third of the length of the side frame members. The adjustable bed frame assembly also includes a base frame that includes a plurality of legs for mounting on a floor is rigidly affixed to the center frame such that the center frame does not move with respect to the base frame. The adjustable bed frame assembly further includes a head frame that comprises two substantially parallel side frame members connected by at least one connector frame member, wherein two lower ends of the head frame's parallel side frame members are pivotally attached to the forward connector frame member of the center frame; in addition, a downwardly facing extension frame member is attached to the head frame's connector frame. The adjustable bed frame assembly also includes an actuator for raising and lowering the head frame, wherein one end of the actuator is pivotally connected to the head frame's extension frame member and an opposing end of the actuator is connected to the center frame's rear connector frame member. The adjustable bed frame assembly also includes a mattress platform affixed to a top side of the head frame to provide support to a head portion of a mattress.

Abstract:
A phallic device mount for operably securing a phallic device thereto and a method of use are disclosed. The mount is positioned adjacent to and supported by a bed. A substantially planar bed-engaging portion is positioned below the mattress of the bed and extends to the mount thereby holding the mount in place during use. Preferably, the substantially planar bed-engaging portion is retractable within the mount for easy concealment of the mount when not in use, and it is slideably secured between a box spring and mattress of the bed during use of the mount. In a preferred embodiment, the height of the planar bed-engaging portion and the height of the phallic device are both independently adjustable by a user.
Abstract:
A stand for supporting a vibrator/massaging device provides a swiveling and pivoting relationship through a ball joint connection between the massaging device and the base stand. The base stand comprises a suction cup bottom which enables attachment to a variety of flat surfaces. The stand has a receptacle for receiving a shaft end of the massaging device in a snug fit, and has a slot in its side wall for receiving an electrical cord for the massaging device.
Abstract:
A bed (A) has side rails (20, 22) and defines a patient supporting surface (38). A mounting assembly (B) includes a transverse member (50) which is clamped to the bed side rails and an upstanding post (58). A power module mounting bar (70) is slidably positioned on the upstanding post to be mounted thereto in a selectively adjustable vertical position and to be selectively swung about the axis of the post to a storage position. A power module (C) drives a shaft (98) through reciprocating angular displacement at a selectively adjustable speed and between selectively adjustable angular displacement limits. A patient joint flexing assembly (D) is connected with the power module shaft to flex a selected one of the patient's joints under motive force supplied by the power module. Commonly, a plurality of joint flexing assemblies are provided, each particularly adapted for flexing one of the patient's joints, such as a knee flexing assembly, an elbow flexing assembly, and the like. In the knee flexing assembly, a thigh supporting frame portion (174) and a calf supporting frame portion (176) are interconnected by a polycentric hinge (178). In a elbow flexing assembly, a wrist flexing mechanism (220) is provided for flexing the patient's wrist in coordination with flexing of the elbow.
Abstract:
Nonrotating vibrator motors are mounted on a rigid member in furniture. Electric power at different frequencies or energy levels is supplied to the respective vibrator motors. Frequency differences in the vibrations result in moving interference waves being produced in the rigid member which waves are imparted to the user of the furniture who experiences a massaging effect. Means are provided for enabling the user to control the frequency differential and amplitudes of the driving currents.
