Abstract: Methods and software applications for transmitting high-resolution spectral curve data to a tinter for generating a tint formula usable to custom-tint a base paint or coating to match the color of a sensed surface. The high-resolution spectral curve data is derived from low-resolution or wideband spectral data obtained via a low resolution or wideband spectrophotometer. Additional user information, order information, or location information may be transmitted to the tinter.

Abstract: Described herein is a process for correcting an observed color difference between a color at a first gloss and the color at a second gloss different than the first gloss, said process comprising the steps of: (a) determining a first correction caused by a lightness (Y-value) of the color a first gloss; (b) determining a second correction caused by an inclusion of a first surface diffusion in gloss readings; (c) based on the first and second corrections, determining a specular correction caused by a difference in specular reflections from the color at the first gloss and the color at the second gloss; (d) determining tristimulus corrections based on the specular correction; (e) preparing corrected tristimulus values of the color at a second gloss; and (f) producing a paint composition for the color at the second gloss using the corrected tristimulus values.

Abstract: The invention reduces a variation of a result of image inspection by alleviating a burden on the user relating to designation of an extracted color. An image inspection device displays a color image of an inspection target object, receives designation of at least a foreground region, and extracts a foreground color and a background color as color information from the foreground region and a background region, respectively. The image inspection device calculates a distance between a color of each pixel of the color image and the foreground color in a color space, and generates a foreground distance image. Similarly, the image inspection device forms a background distance image. The image inspection device inspects the inspection target object using a foreground-background image created by combining the foreground distance image and the background distance image.

Abstract: Color calibration of color image rendering devices, such as large color displays, which operate by either projection or emission of images, utilize internal color measurement instrument or external color measurement modules locatable on a wall or speaker. A dual use camera is provided for a portable or laptop computer, or a cellular phone, handset, personal digital assistant or other handheld device with a digital camera, in which one of the camera or a display is movable with respect to the other to enable the camera in a first mode to capture images of the display for enabling calibration of the display, and in a second mode for capturing image other than of the display. The displays may represent rendering devices for enabling virtual proofing in a network, or may be part of stand-alone systems and apparatuses for color calibration. Improved calibration is also provided for sensing and correcting for non-uniformities of rendering devices, such as color displays, printer, presses, or other color image rendering device.

Abstract: An indicator light detection system includes a detection module and a processing module. The detection module is configured to sense a color of a first indicator light to receive a first color signal. The detection module is further configured to output a first detection signal corresponding to the first color signal. The processing module includes a resolving unit, a comparison unit, and a display unit. The resolving unit is configured to resolve the first detection signal to a first detection value.
