Abstract:
A repair coating method which comprises coating a photocurable processing composition (I) onto a damaged area of a substrate to form a processed layer, followed by coating a colored base coating composition (II) onto the processed layer to form a colored base layer, and coating a photocurable clear composition (III) onto the colored base layer to form a clear layer.
Abstract:
A method including: dropping the ultraviolet-curable resin fluid onto the aspheric face of a metallic mold set horizontally, the aspheric face having a desired concave face; bringing a convex lens close to the metallic mold and stopping the movement of the lens just before it comes into contact with the ultraviolet-curable resin fluid; inclining the metallic mold and the lens together to cause the ultraviolet-curable resin fluid to flux; after bringing the convex face of the lens into point contact with this fluxed and swelled ultraviolet-curable resin fluid, moving the lens to a prescribed position relative to the metallic mold to place the ultraviolet-curable resin fluid between the lens and the metallic mold; returning the lens and the metallic mold together from the inclined state to the horizontal state, thereby irradiating the ultraviolet-curable resin fluid with ultraviolet rays to cure the resin fluid and form a molded resin layer.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for the production of coatings, adhesive layers or seals for primed or unprimed substrates, wherein (1) at least one coating material that can be hardened thermally and/or with actinic radiation and/or an adhesive and/or at least one sealant that can be hardened thermally and/or with actinic radiation in the form of a powder slurry is applied on and/or to the primed or unprimed substrate; (2) the resulting powder slurry layer is dried; (3) the resulting solid layer (2) is molten by heating and (4) the resulting molten layer obtained in step (3) of the method is hardened with near infrared radiation (NIR) in its molten state during and/or after solidification.
Abstract:
Ethylene copolymer elastomer compositions, acrylate rubber compositions, nitrile rubber compositions, fluoroelastomer compositions, and chlorinated olefin elastomer compositions are provided which are curable by exposure to UV radiation. The compositions are particularly suited for production of elastomeric seals using hot melt equipment and a gasketing in place technique.
Abstract:
The dual cure coating composition requires electromagnetic radiation and heat energy to cure and comprises a radiation curable component (a1), a thermally curable binder component (a2), and a thermally curable crosslinking component (a3). Radiation curable component (a1) is polymerizable upon exposure to electromagnetic radiation and comprises at least two functional groups (a11) comprising at least one bond activatable with electromagnetic radiation. Thermally curable binder component (a2) is polymerizable upon exposure to heat and comprises (a21) at least two functional groups which are reactive with functional groups (a31) and no more than 5% by weight of aromatic ring moieties (a22), based on the nonvolatile weight of thermally curable binder component (a2). Third component (a3) comprises at least 2.0 isocyanate groups per molecule. The invention further comprises methods of making coated surfaces having both optimum porosity sealing and adhesion.
Abstract:
A method, composition and system for coating an external surface of containers and in particular, plastic containers, provides for low permeability to gases and vapors. The coating applied to the external surface of the containers is very thin and is comprised of one or several inorganic substances or layers of substances. For example, the coating can include silica which is bonded to the external surface of the container. This coating will be flexible and can be applied regardless of the container's internal pressure or lack thereof. The coating will firmly adhere to the container and possess an enhanced gas barrier effect after pressurization even when the coating is scratched, fractured, flexed and/or stretched. Moreover, this gas barrier enhancement will be substantially unaffected by filling of the container.
Abstract:
A system for applying a polyurethane coating to a polyolefin floor tile, comprising a conveyor for moving the floor tile past a plurality of treatment devices, including a heater, a plasma generator, an applicator, and an ultraviolet light system. The heater and plasma generator increase the energy of the top surface of the floor tile, and the applicator applies a liquid polyurethane to the top surface while in the energized state. The ultraviolet light system then exposes the polyurethane to ultraviolet light to at least partially cure it.

Abstract:
The invention concerns a process for coating a metallic or semimetallic surface in which coating molecules containing reactive groups are bound covalently to the surface by irradiation with light and it also concerns a structured coated surface.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a solventless thermosetting photosensitive via-filling ink used in a hole-burying procedure in a printed circuit board (PCB) production process, and a method for filling a via using said via-filling ink. The solventless thermosetting photosensitive via-filling ink according to the present invention can be used to fill up the two ends of a via and form a rigid film by exposure to an ultraviolet light in order to protect the via-filling ink in the via from cross-linking, so that the via-filling ink will not flow out during a thermal baking process due to an insufficient viscosity of said ink. As a result, the via-filling ink thus formed has a smooth surface and a solid inside without void or hole formed therein.
