Abstract:
A device for adjusting a camshaft of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle has a stator and a rotor fixedly connected to a camshaft and rotatable relative to the stator. A drive wheel is fixedly connected to the stator and is centered by the camshaft. The stator has a peripheral area provided with a centering element interacting with a counter element provided on the drive wheel for aligning the drive wheel in a rotational direction relative to the stator.
Abstract:
A method and a device for operating an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders are described, each cylinder having at least one intake valve and one exhaust valve having fully variable valve control, a fuel feed to at least one first cylinder of the plurality of cylinders being deactivated, a first quantity of fresh air being drawn in by opening the at least one intake valve of the at least one first cylinder in a first downward movement of the piston of the at least one first cylinder, and a second quantity of fresh air being ejected by opening the at least one exhaust valve with a first upward movement of the piston of the at least one first cylinder.
Abstract:
An output cam for a variable valve mechanism includes a body configured for being pivotally associated with and driven by an input shaft. A lift profile of the output cam includes a base circle portion, a cam portion and a fixed radius portion. The base circle portion is adjacent to and continuous with the cam portion, and the cam portion is adjacent to and continuous with the fixed radius portion. The base circle portion has a base radius, the cam portion has a cam radius and the fixed radius portion has a fixed radius. The base and fixed radii are substantially constant. The fixed radius is a predetermined amount greater than the base radius. The cam radius increases from a value approximately equal to the base radius adjacent the base circle portion to a value approximately equal to the fixed radius adjacent the fixed radius portion.
Abstract:
An adjustable cam shaft sprocket for allowing small adjustments to a cam shaft. The adjustable cam shaft sprocket comprises an inner member and an outer member, the inner member being placed concentrically within the first circular member and held in place by a fastener. A series of openings located at the perimeter of the inner member and outer member are arranged such that only one pair of openings between the inner member and the outer member are aligned for each hole alignment. A shear pin is inserted through the aligned pair of openings to prevent the inner member from rotating with respect to the outer member. A small adjustment to the cam shaft is achieved by removing the shear pin, rotating the inner member with respect to the outer member so that a second pair of openings is aligned, and re-inserting the shear pin.
Abstract:
A rotating piston positioning device to adjust the angle of rotation of a camshaft with respect to a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. The device includes a drive member (5) that is driven by the crankshaft and a driven member (10) that is fixed to the camshaft (4). At least the driven member (10) of the device (1) is formed of a lightweight metal and is bolted to the camshaft (4) by a central fastening screw (13), whereas the drive member (5) is radially supported external to the driven member (10) and transfers force to the driven member by at least two hydraulic pressure chambers located inside the device (1). The conical zone of force from the fastening screw (13) to the driven member (10) is carried by a special collar (16) made of a compression-resistant material that at the same time is a prefabricated pressure medium distributor of the device (1). The driven member (10) is shape-locked and/or friction locked to this collar axially, radially and circumferentially, and is bolted together with it to the camshaft (4) without deforming.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a preassembled drive means unit provided with a support body comprising at least one wheel receiver, which is adapted to receive therein a respective drive means wheel, and an endless drive means, which is adapted to be put around said drive means wheels. This drive means unit comprises a replaceable mounting aid which is arranged in the area of the wheel receiver instead of a drive means wheel. One or a plurality of the drive means wheels can be replaced by the mounting aid. The whole preassembled drive means unit is held in position by the mounting aid, although on or a plurality of the drive means wheels of the drive means unit are not installed. In this way, it will be more easily possible to assemble the drive means unit and to attach the drive means wheels.
Abstract:
In a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine, equipped with an electronically controlled hydraulic system for the variable operation of the engine's inlet valves, an indicator of the differences in the amount of air aspirated by the cylinders of the engine during the respective induction phase is provided and said system controls the various inlet valves of the engine in a differentiated manner, varying the time and/or opening travel for the purpose of minimizing the differences between the amounts of air aspirated by the various cylinders of the engine.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cotter-mounting apparatus that, by engaging a pair of cotters with engagement grooves provided on the outer circumferential surface of an axial member, mounts the pair of cotters that fix a retainer for holding a spring to exert a pressing force to the axial member in a compressed state, wherein the cotter-mounting apparatus includes a retainer holding mechanism that holds a retainer having a pair of cotters incorporated, and is driven to be relatively elevated and lowered on the upper side in the axial line direction of the axial member; a cotter separating mechanism for separating the pair of cotters from each other over the outer diameter of the axial member roughly in the horizontal direction while pushing up the pair of cotters from downward and for holding the pair of cotters; and a cotter pressing mechanism for pressing the pair of cotters separated by the cotter separating mechanism from the outside roughly in the horizontal direction and causing the cotters to be engaged with the engagement grooves positioned in advance. With such a structure, it is possible to mount cotters with a simple procedure, to increase productivity and to engage the pair of cotters with a plurality of engagement grooves without fail.
Abstract:
An adjustable camshaft sprocket assembly for attachment to a camshaft. A camshaft sprocket is removably securable to a camshaft sprocket hub and moveable, independent of the camshaft sprocket hub when the camshaft sprocket assembly is mounted on the camshaft. An adjustment tool is used to adjust the camshaft sprocket comprising at least two extensions. The first extension is of a size to fit within one a corresponding opening in the camshaft hub. The second extension is of a size to pass though a different corresponding opening in the camshaft hub and fit within a corresponding opening in the camshaft sprocket. A handle extension is used for turning the adjustment tool about the second extension, which serves as a pivot.
Abstract:
