Abstract: A method of communicating data in a node cluster of a data grid is described. The method includes receiving, at a listener of a first node, data from a second node that is filtered using the filter during a search query of a node cluster. The method further includes determining, at the listener, that a third node has joined the node cluster during the search query. The method further includes communicating the filter the third node joining the node cluster in response to the third node joining the cluster.

Abstract: Performing data management operations on replicated data in a computer network. Log entries are generated for data management operations of an application executing on a source system. Consistency point entries are used to indicate a time of a known good, or recoverable, state of the application. A destination system is configured to process a copy of the log and consistency point entries to replicate data in a replication volume, the replicated data being a copy of the application data on the source system. When the replicated data represents a known good state of the application, as determined by the consistency point entries, the destination system(s) may perform a storage operation (e.g., snapshot, backup) to copy the replicated data and to logically associate the copied data with a time information (e.g., time stamp) indicative of the source system time when the application was in the known good state.

Abstract: A processing device to receive, from a second node in the data grid system, a first filter. The processing device may detect a failure of a third node of the data grid system. The processing device may determine that the backup data stored at the first node matches the first filter. The processing device may send, to the second node, a duplicate data notification indicating that the backup data comprises, at least in part, first data duplicative to second data communicated to the second node from the third node.

Abstract: A first compute node of a plurality of compute nodes of a database cluster may receive a request for a database transaction from a client application. The client application may be located within the first compute node. A first connection may be established, without regard to whether another compute node has a lighter workload than the first compute node, between the client application and a first database of the database cluster. The first connection may be a local connection, wherein the first database is located within the first compute node. The first compute node may detect that a failure associated with the first database has occurred. The first compute node may execute a failover operation to continue servicing the request for the data. The executing of a failover operation may include establishing a second connection between the client application and a second database of the database cluster.

Abstract: Embodiments enable a database management system (DBMS) to manage two levels of disk failure groups. These two levels of redundancy are achieved by grouping the disks of the disk group for the DBMS into two levels of failure groups (i.e., “data sites” each containing two or more “failure groups” of disks). This system of disk grouping allows a DBMS to potentially tolerate the loss of both an entire first site and part of a second site. Such a DBMS uses a multi-level voting system, based on both failure group-level votes and site-level votes, to identify the current version of administrative data structures (ADS) that store key administrative data. In addition to data sites that store database data, the DBMS includes a quorum site with a single quorum failure group that stores a copy of the ADS. The quorum site contributes a site-level vote during a multi-level voting event.

Abstract: A non-volatile memory system includes a plurality of non-volatile data memory cells arranged into groups of data memory cells, a plurality of select devices connected to the groups of data memory cells, a selection line connected to the select devices, a plurality of data word lines connected to the data memory cells, and one or more control circuits connected to the selection line and the data word lines. The one or more control circuits are configured to determine whether the select devices are corrupted. If the select devices are corrupted, then the one or more control circuits repurpose one of the word lines (e.g., the first data word line closet to the select devices) to be another selection line, thus operating the memory cells connected to the repurposed word line as select devices.

Abstract: Applications may allocate and deallocate persistent objects within transactions used to access persistent data. An allocator's persistent metadata may be lazily persisted when the enclosing transaction commits. An allocator's metadata may be divided into persistent and nonpersistent portions while the heap may be divided into shared and thread-private superblocks. The persisting of the effects of allocation/deallocation calls may be lazily performed and bundled with the enclosing transaction's commit operation related persist barriers. A transaction may maintain an allocation log of the allocation/deallocation calls made by the transaction. An allocation log may be hosted in persistent memory and updated during allocation/deallocation calls. No persist barriers may be used during allocation/deallocation calls. Before a transaction commits, its updates and allocation log may be persisted. Once the transaction has been committed, the allocation log may be applied to the heap's corresponding metadata.
