Abstract:
The present invention relates to a human body supporting device, especially intended for use with children having serious functional disabilities, e.g. cerebral paresis. The device according to the present invention is characterised by comprising a base unit (1) intended to rest on a horizontal ground, an elongated, generally up-right element (5) extending from the base unit (1), a pelvis support (10) attached to the upright element (5), said support being displaceable along the upright element (5), by said pelvis support (10) comprising means (12, 13) for encircling the waist of the person using the device, and by a chest support (15) provided on the upright element (5), said chest support (15) being displaceable along the upright element (5) and comprising means (17, 18) for encircling the chest of the person using the device.
Abstract:
A medical chair is provided which is useful in the case where the dental arch and the occlusal condition are to be measured correctly, and also in various medical treatment methods that synthetically pursue the balance of a human body, and which can relax muscular tension of the human body as much as possible in a condition where the human body extends along the direction of gravity while ensuring physiological curvature of the individual vertebrae. The medical chair has cranium position regulating means 7 and pelvis position regulating means 4 for respectively regulating the positions of the cranium and pelvis of a subject who sits on a seat. The regulating means 7 and 4 have a structure in which they butt against both right and left sides of the cranium and the pelvis, respectively to cause both planes centered in a right-and-left direction of the cranium and the pelvis to be in a same central plane which extends in the direction of gravity. An ideal condition of the body of the subject in which vertical and horizontal balances are achieved against the force of gravity can be achieved to ensure physiological curvature of vertebrae, and the condition can be maintained.
Abstract:
A method for treating patients suffering from left ventricular dysfunction is disclosed. The method involves applying, during diastole, for a time period of about one hour, about five days each week for at least about seven weeks, an incrementally increasing therapeutic pressure to the patients' lower extremities, from the calves through the thighs and the buttocks. The initial hourly treatment is carried out at a peak diastolic/systolic pressure ratio (D/S Ratio) in the range of about 0.4:1 up to about 0.6:1 and thereafter at a D/S Ratio in the range of 0.5:1 to 1:1 for each consecutive hourly treatment, with the proviso that the average D/S Ratio over the entire treatment regimen does not exceed about 0.9:1.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for treatment of constipation and/or effectuating the release of intestinal gases is provided. The apparatus includes a support member having at least one vibratory element attached to the support member. An actuator, which is operatively attached to the vibratory element, moves the vibratory element in a motion. The motion is operative to promote peristaltic movements of gastrointestines so as to ease constipation and to effectuate the release of gases in a patient.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a therapeutic device comprising a mechanical orthotic element (2, 3, 4) designed to constitute a contact surface with at least the patient's lower limbs and a neuromuscular stimulation element (33) including at least a pair of electrodes (37, 38) designed to act on the muscle or muscular group concerned of said patient's limb. The orthotic element comprises two orthoses including each three segments (2, 3, 4) designed to co-operate (11, 13; 12, 14; 15) with respectively the patient's thigh, leg and foot. The first segment is connected at one of its ends through a first motorised articulation (9) to an element (10) designed to co-operate with the patient's body at his hips and at its other end through a second motorised articulation (7) to one of the ends of the second segment. The other end of the second segment is linked through a third motorised articulation (8) to the third segment Each of the articulations (6, 7, 8) is provided with an angular sensor and force and torque sensors, coupled to the control member (31) of the stimulation device so as to enable feedback control by closed loop adjustment of the stimulation device.
Abstract:
Hoisting harness for persons, where the lifting action takes place by a harness consisting of a seat-piece (1) placed between the person's legs, to which seat-piece a rear-piece (3) is connected, which runs against the persons's back and further consists of a front piece (15) which runs against the chest. The front-piece (15) and the rear-piece (3) in their free ends have loops (8, 9, 17, 18) to be applied to a lift means, e.g. a lift hanger (19). In order to avoid that the harness shall not be too tight across the chest during the lifting action and that the harness is adaptable to the size of the person's body, the front-piece (15) and the rear-piece (3) are connected by two connecting bands (11, 12) each band passing one side of the body, whereby the length of the connecting bands (11, 12) between by the front-piece and the rear-piece (3) is adjustable.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to a gait rehabilitation aid and to a method for aiding gait rehabilitation. The gait rehabilitation aid resides in a treadmill having a belt which speed matches a user's own step cycle based on let length and which provides feedback in the form of an evaluation with respect to the user's length, cadence, gait velocity and gait pattern. A controller that is responsive to a user input device is employed to input information that inputs information pertaining to any one of cadence and leg length sets the belt speed to match an appropriate step cycle. In addition, footprints are scrolled on a display together with foot falls that correspond to actual heel strike events on the treadmill belt. The footprints appear in accordance with the user's own step cycle.
Abstract:
A multifacet sexual aid device for increasing the level of sexual enjoyment between partners which includes a waist belt having a first, second and third belt portion. The first belt portion has a substantially planar portion and a first and second attachment end. The planar portion is a parabolic shaped front element which include a spring-loaded attachment mechanism within a substantially central portion of the planar portion for attaching at least one prosthetic phallic element thereto, as a quick release and quickly deployed element. A couple connector is also used to couple a plurality of different prosthetic phallic elements as either a convex or concave connection to the spring-loaded mechanism. The free ends of each second and third belt portions are fixedly secured at opposing internal first and second internal surface portions via hook and loop fasteners.
Abstract:
A therapeutic table system for supporting a body of a user above a surface and for applying traction to a spine of a user lying on the therapeutic table system. The therapeutic table system includes a table assembly that includes a tabletop and a plurality of leg members. A support assembly is mounted on an upper surface of the tabletop for supporting a body of a user lying on the tabletop. The support assembly includes a hip support assembly for supporting hips of a user lying on the tabletop. The hip support assembly is positionable between an extended position and a contracted position. A traction assembly is mounted on a lower surface of the tabletop for moving the hip support assembly from the contracted position toward the extended position such that a user lying on the tabletop is placed in traction.
Abstract:
A vibrator apparatus is provided. The vibrator apparatus includes a body weight support to support the body weight of a subject. The body weight support is attached to at least one arm, which includes a first arm portion and a second arm portion. The second arm is adjustably positionable with respect to the first arm portion. The vibrator apparatus also includes a vibrator assembly mounted on the second arm portion of the arm. The second arm portion is positionable relative to the first arm portion to engage an abdominal region of the subject and apply localized inwardly-directed mechanical vibrations.
