Abstract:
A hydraulic device that includes a membrane-covered walled enclosure that enables control of pressure against a body part to be controlled through desired fluid addition or removal from the enclosure. Through pressure control of the membrane a desired traction force is applied to prevent injuries or therapeutically treat a wide variety of medical conditions, including respiratory, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal and skin disorders.
Abstract:
The present disclosure concerns an adjustable bed facility including a system for executing a computer-based safety-action during a motor-actuated adjustable bed position adjustment, comprising an adjustable bed facility comprising a computer-based controller, an actuator, and a sensor, the computer-based controller providing control of adjustable bed position adjustments, the actuator configured to adjust a height of the adjustable bed facility upon receiving a height-adjustment command from the computer-based controller, and the sensor for determining an actuator action parameter measured value of the actuator, the computer-based controller in communicative connection with the sensor to monitor and compare the motor action parameter measured value to an actuator action parameter normal operation value range, and when the controller determines the monitored motor action parameter measured value is outside the range of the actuator action parameter normal operation value range the controller sends a safety-action command to the actuator.
Abstract:
Preferred systems for assisting clearance of an acutely thrombosed artery substantially surrounded by boney external body surfaces which are resistant to deformative displacement relative to the thrombosed artery by the application of external percussive force are described. The method consists of applying targeted, localized, non-invasive, high infrasonic to low sonic frequency vibratory percussion with a serial impact frequency much greater than the pulse rate of a patient being treated, the percussion directed towards a remote, preferably superficial “target vessel” residing palpably close to the skin surface. Marked vessel deformations with resultant blood pressure and flow fluctuations are thereby induced by the percussion within the target vessel which propagate to the acutely thrombosed artery to provide localized agitation and turbulence to assist thrombolytic and/or IV microbubble delivery and effectiveness in facilitating reperfusion. Preferred apparatus for treatment of ST elevation myocardial infarction, acute ischemic stroke and acute pulmonary embolus are presented.
Abstract:
A device and method coupled to a therapy garment to apply pressure and repetitive compression forces to a body of a person has a positive air pulse generator and a user programmable time, frequency and pressure controller operable to regulate the duration of operation, frequency of the air pulses and a selected air pressure applied to the body of a person. The air pulse generator has rigid displacers that are angularly moved with crank power transmissions to draw air into the air pulse generator and discharge air pressure pulses to the therapy garment.
Abstract:
An improved vibrating massager is disclosed. The massager includes an inner shell, at least one vibrating unit, at least one power-supply unit, a control circuit board, at least two conductive strips having a first conductive strip and a second conductive strip, a switch, a first outer shell, a waterproof o-ring, and a second outer shell. Particularly the switch and the control circuit board are integrated and a program for memorizing previously-used vibrating frequency is installed in the control circuit board. As a result, the previously-used vibrating frequency can be re-applied in next use without extensive control (e.g., number of times for pushing button is decreased).
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide a pumping system and method including a flow locking feature. A pump controller includes a user interface configured to initially receive and set a plurality of programmed flow rate settings, a maximum locked flow rate, and a minimum locked flow rate. The pump controller is also configured to disable resetting of the maximum flow rate and the minimum flow rate once they are initially received and set and to allow resetting of the plurality of programmed flow rate settings throughout operation of the pumping system. The pump controller is further configured to operate a pump motor in order to maintain a first flow rate set by one of the plurality of programmed flow rate settings as long as the first flow rate is between the minimum locked flow rate and the maximum locked flow rate.
Abstract:
A device and method for vibrational and aerobic exercise is disclosed. The system provides a vibrational exercise experience in conjunction with an oscillating means for simulating walking. The system provides the benefits of traditional aerobic exercise as well as all those of a vibrational machine in a low-impact, easy to use system.
Abstract:
An electronic variable stroke device comprise a base portion containing a motor-driven screw shaft, an upper portion extending from the base portion having the screw shaft extending longitudinally therein, a traveler engaged with the screw shaft to drive it in reciprocating longitudinal motion. The traveler has an annular shape with an aperture therethrough which is driven in reciprocating longitudinal motions for use as a male sex toy. The device configuration may include a pair of screw threads spaced apart in parallel with the traveler engaged in between them, and/or multiple travelers arranged at different longitudinal positions of the screw shaft(s). A remote controller unit may be provided for ergonomic operation by the user. A network connection unit may be provided to connect the user's device to an external service provider on a network for conducting interactive sessions remotely with another user or users. The device may be adapted as a male toy that can exchange control signals with another user operating a female toy.
Abstract:
A powered device augments a joint function of a human during a gait cycle using a powered actuator that supplies an augmentation torque, an impedance, or both to a joint, and a controller that modulates the augmentation torque, the impedance, and a joint equilibrium according to a phase of the gait cycle to provide at least a biomimetic response. Accordingly, the device is capable of normalizing or augmenting human biomechanical function, responsive to a wearer's activity, regardless of speed and terrain.
