A paint spray gun has a spray cap that is disposed in front of a nozzle of a gun body, and that is formed with a central spray hole, a set of mist forming holes, a set of mist controlling holes, and a pair of horn projections. Each horn projection is formed with an air passageway, which terminates in first and second outlet openings that are oriented in different directions relative to the central spray hole. Pressurized air that flows through the nozzle exits the spray cap at the mist forming holes, the mist controlling holes, and the first and second outlet openings in the horn projections. Paint material is drawn out of a paint canister and flows through an orifice in the nozzle and the central spray hole in the spray cap for atomization.

An anti-squirt ring acts as a handle guard for a palm operated garden hose nozzle lever. The guard is a circular ring, which obliquely surrounds the trigger lever of the garden hose nozzle. If the garden hose nozzle is accidentally dropped, the annular guard ring provides clearance. Therefore, the trigger lever will not forcefully contact the ground and be accidentally engaged, suddenly and erratically. The guard prevents unwanted spraying water from the nozzle in unwanted directions, such as at the user or at objects which should not get wet. The wire is configured in an annular ring and is either manufactured with the garden hose nozzle or garden hose, or is attached by clamps, cable ties or hook and loop type fasteners to the garden hose nozzle or attached to the garden hose directly.

A modular spray gun that can be configured and built to operate using a selectable spray process. The modular spray gun includes a gun body, an extension and a selectable spray atomizing component. The basic gun body and extension are used to configure a spray gun that can operate as an air spray gun, an airless spray gun, an AAA gun or an HVLP spray gun. The modular extension can be selected to allow circulating or non-circulating operation. The modular extension also permits a variety of spray nozzle assemblies to be mounted thereon depending on the selected spray process to be used with the specific gun. The modular gun body allows selective connection of an atomizing air supply and additional components specific to a particular spray process. An indicator device and/or a relief valve is provided for spray guns using an HVLP spray process to provide an indication that the spray gun is in compliance with the maximum nozzle air pressure limit, usually less than 10 psi. A new air valve seal assembly is also provided. The modular gun design can accommodate electrostatic and non-electrostatic versions.
