Abstract:
Certain poly(oxyalkylene) colorants are disclosed along with method of preparation thereof. A method of using these colorants as fluorescent security taggants is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Solid extrusion coating compositions for metal substrates, a method of extrusion coating a metal substrate, and a metal article are disclosed. The extrusion coating composition is a thermoplastic material and comprises: (a) a polyester having a weight average molecular weight of about 10,000 to about 50,000, and optionally, (b) a modifying resin, such as an epoxy resin having an epoxy equivalent weight of about 500 to about 15,000. The extrusion coating composition is applied to a metal substrate in an extrusion process to provide a composition film having a thickness of about 1 to about 40 microns.

Solid extrusion coating compositions for metal substrates, a method of extrusion coating a metal substrate, and a metal article are disclosed. The extrusion coating composition is a thermoplastic material and comprises: (a) a polyester having a weight average molecular weight of about 10,000 to about 35,000, and (b) a modifying resin, such as an epoxy resin having an epoxy equivalent weight of about 500 to about 15,000. The extrusion coating composition is applied to a metal substrate in an extrusion process to provide a composition film having a thickness of about 1 to about 40 microns.
Abstract:
Disclosed are rare earth pigments, and methods for making and using these pigments, in security applications. The rare earth pigments are IR absorbers with unique spectral features and optionally exhibit color inconstancy.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a plurality of representations of color that are stored in an electronic color library and that can be selected by a user. After a color selection is made, a plurality of color ink formulas and/or colorant formulas capable of producing the selected color are provided. Further, other selections can be made to define a substrate or other criteria that can impact the color ink formulas. A plurality of color ink and/or colorant formulas are provided and optimized in order to reduce or eliminate undesired effects caused by metamerism. The formulas can be transmitted over a communication network, such as the Internet or a local Intranet to another party, such as color products manufacturers.

Abstract:
A solid coating composition for use in powder coating and extrusion coating applications is disclosed. The coating composition contains about 70 to about 95% of a base resin, such as a polyester, and about 1 to about 50% of a low-to-medium molecular weight end-capped epoxy resin, and is essentially free of a bisphenol-A diglycidyl ether monomer. The solid coating composition is applied to a metal substrate in a powder coating or an extrusion process to provide a metal article having a composition film having a thickness of about 1 to about 200 microns. The metal articles can be used to package food and beverages.
Abstract:
An ink for high-speed printing is formulated by controlling the phase angle of the ink to less than 60° at a frequency of 10 Hz when the ratio of the total non-volatiles volume fraction of the ink to the maximum total non-volatiles volume fraction of the ink is a ratio between about 0.40 to about 0.90. An ink for high-speed printing includes one or more resins, one or more colorants, one or more solvents, and one or more additives. The ink can be a flexographic ink, a rotogravure ink, a heatset offset ink, or a publication gravure ink. A print of the ink includes less than 1% of pinholes by area. The ink is applied to a substrate, which moves at a speed of greater than 1200 feet/min.
