Abstract: Ammonia synthesis process and plant comprising an ammonia synthesis converter and a downstream ammonia cooling system, wherein the ammonia synthesis converter is arranged to receive an ammonia synthesis gas comprising hydrogen and nitrogen and to produce an ammonia product gas stream and an off-gas ammonia stream; said ammonia cooling system comprising:—an ammonia evaporator for evaporating an ammonia liquid stream and generating an ammonia vapor stream;—an off-gas cleaning unit for cleaning said off-gas ammonia stream under the addition of water as a scrubbing agent, generating a water stream and an ammonia depleted off-gas stream;—an absorption cooling unit comprising water for cooling said ammonia vapor stream and collecting a condensed ammonia-water stream;—a regeneration unit for generating from said condensed ammonia-water stream: a purified water stream, said ammonia liquid stream, and an overhead ammonia gas stream.

Abstract: A plant and process for producing a hydrogen rich gas are provided, said process including the steps of: steam reforming a hydrocarbon feed into a synthesis gas; shifting the synthesis gas and conducting the shifted gas to a hydrogen purification unit, subjecting CO2-rich off-gas from the hydrogen purification unit to a carbon dioxide removal in a low temperature CO2-removal section and recycling CO2-depleted off-gas rich in hydrogen to the process. A drying unit upstream the CO2-removal section is provided, under the addition of regeneration gas produced in the plant and process.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transient operation of a solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) stack having a cathode side and an anode side, the method comprising: supplying a flush gas comprising CO2 to said anode side; and applying a small electrolysis current of 0.001-0.05 A/cm2 active cell area, such as 0.01-0.05 A/cm2 active cell area, to the cells in the SOEC stack, for thereby generating oxygen in the anode side or for transporting to the anode side any oxygen already available in the cathode side. The method comprises also operating the SOEC stack during shut-down with a flush gas comprising CO2 on the anode side, and recycling anode product gas comprising oxygen being generated under prior normal operation of the SOEC stack, with no small current being applied. By the invention it is possible to generate small amounts of O2 to safeguard the pO2 and stability of the oxy-electrode in the anode side. The invention provides protection of not only the oxy-electrode, but also the fuel electrode in the cathode side.

Abstract: A system is described for providing a hydrocarbon product stream. An electrolysis section provides a syngas stream from a first feed comprising CO2 and a second feed comprising H2O, which is then passed to an F-T section where it is converted to a hydrocarbon product stream and a tail gas stream. An electrical steam reformer section said tail gas stream and convert it to a second syngas stream, which is then recycled upstream the FT section. A process is also provided for converting a first feed comprising CO2 and a second feed comprising H2O to a first hydrocarbon product stream in a system according to the invention. The system of the invention can be combined with an upgrading section, in a gas-to-liquid plant.
