Embodiments of the present disclosure describe a method of making a membrane comprising contacting one or more membrane materials, a solvent, and a non-solvent at a first temperature sufficient to form a homogenous solution; casting the homogenous solution at about the first temperature; and adjusting the temperature to a second temperature sufficient to induce phase separation of the solvent and non-solvent and form a porous membrane.

The invention relates to novel N-(α-peroxy)carbazole compounds of Formula I and methods for use. The N-(α-peroxy)carbazole compounds described herein are useful for treating or preventing parasitic infections, bacterial infections, and cancer in subjects. The methods include administering an N-(α-peroxy)carbazole compound as described herein to a subject. Also described herein are methods for synthesizing N-(α-peroxy)carbazole compounds.

A cell for enhancing a lithium (Li) concentration in a stream includes a housing; a dense lithium selective membrane located in the housing and dividing the housing into a first compartment and a second compartment; a cathode electrode located in the first compartment; an anode electrode located in the second compartment; a first piping circuit fluidly connected to the second compartment and configured to supply a feed stream to the second compartment; a second piping circuit fluidly connected to the first compartment and configured to circulate an enrichment stream through the first compartment; and a power source configured to apply a voltage between the cathode electrode and the anode electrode to initiate an oxidative electrochemical reaction on the anode electrode and a reductive electrochemical reaction on the cathode electrode. The dense lithium selective membrane has a thickness less than 400 μm.

A trimetallic catalyst that is a combination of nickel, silver and palladium metal is described. The trimetallic catalyst can be used to produce hydrogen and is useful as a replacement for platinum in hydrogenation reactions.
