Abstract: The invention relates to a method for evaluating mechanical tests of a coating on a substrate, wherein a mechanical stress is embossed on the coating in a first step (S1), the substrate with the coating is clamped in isothermically in a second step (S2), and an infrared picture of the region where the mechanical stress is embossed in the first step (S1) is taken. In a fourth step (S4), the infrared picture is evaluated. The invention further relates to a device for executing said method.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for testing the surface quality of a coated 5 or uncoated substrate 7, in which fibres 3 of a brush 1 are pressed with a predetermined force e.g. by a spring 9 against the substrate and the brush rotates 15 about a rotation shaft 11 arranged perpendicularly to the substrate surface. At the same time is the brush is moved parallel to the substrate surface for a predetermined duration following which it is established, e.g. by determining gloss reduction or weight of material removed, whether a surface inhomogeniety exists that can be attributed to deformation or abrasion. The brush may be driven by a motor 13 moved along a rail 17. The pressing force may increase with longitudinal movement to provide a damage gradient. The brush may be plate shaped and mounted centrally or eccentrically on the shaft. The bristles may be of synthetic material e.g. metal wire or plastics such as PE, PP or PVC.

Abstract: Method for the utilisation of plastic wastes, which arise in the production, further processing or after use of the plastic, in that the plastic wastes, in a sewage treatment plant, are a) comminuted, then mixed with a sewage sludge to which organic flocculants are added and to which, if required, further amounts of finely divided charcoals and/or ashes are added, b) the plastic, if required, is modified in its surface properties by binders in such a way that it is better bound into the sludge, c) this pretreated sludge mixture is subjected to filtration, in which case the plastic can assume the properties of a filter aid, i.e. the reduction of the filter residue, d) the filter cakes obtained are burnt, in which case the plastic assumes the function of an additional energy source and e) the ash is deposited, for example, in a sanitary landfill or supplied for utilisation or a) comminuted if required b) and then mixed inside or outside a combustion furnace with a mixture, which has previously been subjected to filtration, of sewage sludge, organic flocculant and, if required, further amounts of finely divided charcoals and/or ashes, c) filtered again if required, d) the resulting mixture is burnt and e) the ash is deposited, for example, in a sanitary landfill or supplied for utilisation.

Abstract: An expandable styrene polymer (I) contains: (A) a polymer matrix consisting of 70-95 wt.% polystyrene or a styrene copolymer containing up to 50% comonomers and 5-30 wt.% of a styrene-butadiene block copolymer; (B) 1-15 wt.% (with respect to (A)) of a volatile blowing agent; and optionally (C) conventional additives. The block copolymer structure: S-B/S(-S)n, in which S = polystyrene block; B/S = butadiene/styrene copolymer block with a statistical distribution of monomers; and n = 0 or 1, with S blocks comprising 5-40 vol. %. Also claimed are: (i) a process for the preparation of (I) by the addition of (B) during or after mixing of (A); and (ii) an elastomeric foam having density 5-150g/cm , which is prepared from (I).
