Abstract: The production of fireproof rigid polyurethane foam by reacting polyisocyanates with polyols in presence of water and/or other blowing agents involves adding flour and/or starch in combination with acid-forming fire retardant(s) to the reaction mixture, the flour/starch being used in a pumpable form obtained by mixing with a liquid fire retardant and/or polyol. Independent claims are also included for (1) a method for the production of starch suspensions in a form which can be metered by pumping for use in fireproof rigid polyurethane foam, by mixing flour and/or starch with a liquid fire retardant and/or a polyol (2) fireproof rigid polyurethane foam obtained by this method.

Abstract: Substituted bis[tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium] salts are new. Substituted bis[tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium] salts (I) of formula (1) are new. Abstract: An agent for the surface modification of fillers for polyamide compositions comprises: (A) an amino-functional silane, a bis-aminosilane a tertiary aminosilane or an oligomer of these; (B) a mixture of an amino-functional silane, bis-aminosilane and/or tertiary aminosilane and an alkyl-, alkenyl- or polyether-functional silane and optionally an oligomer of these; or (C) a mixture of an alkyl-functional silane and an alkenyl-functional silane and optionally an oligomer of these. An agent for the surface modification of fillers for polyamide compositions comprises either: (A) an agent comprising: (i) an amino-functional silane of formula (Ia); (ii) a bis-aminosilane (Ib); (iii) a tertiary aminosilane (Ic); or an oligomer of (Ia)-(Ic) with a degree of oligomerization (DO) of 2-20; (B) a mixture of: (i) a component comprising (a) an amino-functional silane of formula (IIa), (b) a secondary aminosilane (IIb) and/or (c) a tertiary aminosilane (IIc); and (ii) a component comprising either (a) an alkyl-functional silane of formula (III), (b) an alkenyl-functional silane of formula (IV), (c) a polyether-functional silane of formula (V); and optionally (iii) an oligomer of (IIa)-(IIc) and (III)-(V) with a DO of 2-20; or (C) a mixture of: (i) an alkyl-functional silane of formula (IIIa); and (ii) an alkyl-functional silane of formula (IV); and optionally (iii) an oligomer of (IIIa) and (IV) with a DO of 2-20. E1 = extinction of the isocyanurate band at 1410 cm ; E2 = extinction of the imide band at 715-720 cm ; and E3 = extinction of the aromatic band at 1600 cm An Independent claim is also included for the production of flame-retardant hard foams by reacting optionally modified organic polyisocyanates with compounds (I) which contain isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms in the presence of water and/or other propellants, catalysts and optionally other additives. The compounds (I) comprise 1-99 wt.% of a polyether alcohol with a functionality of \- 1 and a hydroxyl number of 10-500 mg KOH/g. The reaction is performed in the presence of 0.1-25 wt.% of a carboxylic anhydride.

Abstract: Rigid polyurethane foam is produced from mixtures of (b1) polyfunctional polyether-ols with OH numbers of 40-800 (including at least one with OH no. above 150) and more than 30 wt% ethylene oxide based on total alkylene oxide and (b2) polyether-ols with OH nos. above 40 based mainly on propylene- and/or butylene oxide, using PIR catalysts and an index of 80-500. A method for the production of rigid polyurethane foam with urethane and mainly isocyanurate groups by reacting (a) optionally modified polyisocyanates with (b) a polyol mixture and optionally (c) other compounds with isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms, in presence of (d) water, (e) catalysts, (f) fire retardants, (g) blowing agents and optionally (f) other additives etc. The polyol mixture (b) comprises (b1) di- to octa-functional polyether-ol(s) based on ethylene oxide (EO) and optionally propylene oxide (PO) and/or butylene oxide (BO), with an EO content of more than 30 wt% based on total alkylene oxide and an OH number of 40-800 mg KOH/g (including at least one polyether-ol (b1.1) with an OH number of more than 150), and (b2) polyether-ol(s) with an OH number of more than 40, based on PO and/or BO and optionally EO, and the foam is produced with a characteristic index of 80-500 in presence of PIR catalysts.. An Independent claim is also included for rigid polyurethane foam as above obtained by this method.
