    Abstract: Procedimiento para el hidrogenado de un compuesto orgánico que presenta al menos un grupo carbonilo, en el que se pone en contacto el compuesto orgánico, en presencia de hidrógeno, con un cuerpo moldeado que es obtenible según un procedimiento en el que (i) se pone a disposición un material oxídico desecado y calcinado, que presenta material soporte y componente activo, que comprende óxido de cobre, óxido de cinc y óxido de aluminio, (ii) se añade al material oxídico polvo metálico pulverulento o cemento pulverulento, o una mezcla de los mismos, empleándose polvo de cobre y polvo de cemento con una distribución de tamaños de grano en la que al menos un 45 % de partículas de cobre o cemento poseen tamaños de grano en el intervalo de 10 a 100 m, y (iii) se moldea la mezcla resultante de (ii) para dar un cuerpo moldeado.

    Abstract: The invention concerns a process for preparing 1,4-butanediol by continuous catalytic hydrogenation of 1,4-butinediol in that 1,4-butinediol is reacted with hydrogen in the liquid continuous phase in th e presence of a heterogeneous hydrogenation catalyst at temperatures of between 20 and 300 .degree.C, a pressure of between 1 and 20 0 bar and values of the liquid-side mass transfer coefficients k L a, relative to the volume, of between 0.1 s-1 and 1s-1, a) with a catalyst suspended in the reaction medium, wherein, when a packed bubble column is used, it is operated in the upwards mode and at a ratio of the amount of gas leaving the reaction vessel to the amount fed thereto of between 0.99:1 and 0.4:1, or b) is guided upwards in parallel flow throug h a fixed bed reactor operated in the circulating gas mode, the ratio between the amount of gas fed to the reaction vessel and the amount of gas leaving the latter being maintained between 0.99:1 and 0.4:1.
