Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a stencil paper for thermal screen printing excellent in running stability and image sharpness. CONSTITUTION: Stencil paper for thermal screen printing is a composite consisting of a film composed of a thermoplastic resin and a fiber support having a reticulated structure formed by mutually bonding thermoplastic resin fibers at entangling points thereof. The tensile strength/elongation characteristic of the composite has a tensile strength/elongation curve wherein a film component and a fiber support component are synthesized in a tensile strength/ elongation test and the elongation thereof at the time of the max. tensile strength is set to 20% or more.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject film which is a highly stretched material and has excellent mechanical strength by a method wherein inclusion of does not occur in the precursor producing step and PTFE resin particles are firmly fused to each other in the heat treatment step so that the precursor has good stretchability and the film thickness can be reduced. CONSTITUTION:This film has an aspect ratio of at least 2. is substantially free from void, and has no damaged streak on the surface. In producing this film through wet forming by using a tetrafluoroethylene resin dispersion, a forming mouthpiece having a rectangular delivery port with a length-to-width ratio of at least 5:1 is used.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To inexpensively produce a polyphenylene sulfone fiber excellent in heat resistance and chemical resistance and suitable for various kinds of filters and electrical materials by melt-spinning polyphenylene sulfide at a specific spinning rate or above and then treating the resultant fiber with an organic peroxide. CONSTITUTION:Polyphenylene sulfide is melt-spun at a spinning rate of >=2500 m/min to form a polyphenylene sulfide fiber having =1 denier fineness. Then the fiber is subjected to immersing treatment in a solution of an organic peroxide such as peracetic acid, perpropionic acid or perlactic acid to provide the objective polyphenylene sulfone fiber.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title carbon fiber excellent in flexibility by conjugate spinning of a combination of a pitch raw material with a resin component so that the resin component come into circumferential contact with the raw material followed by removing the resin component before or after the insolubilization treatment and then by calcination. CONSTITUTION:A combination of (A) a pitch raw material such as petroleum- or coal-based pitch with (B) a resin component such as polystyrene or polyacrylonitrile is subjected to conjugate spinning so that the component B come into circumferential contact with the component A to form a precursor fiber. Thence, the resin component is removed before or after the insolubilization treatment followed by calcination, thus obtaining the objective carbon fiber improved in its handleability.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the title insolubilization process in an oxidative gas so designed that a pitch raw material is spun and the resulting precursor fiber is imparted with static electricity prior to the insolubilization treatment to facilitate said treatment, thereby obtaining, a high-performance pitch fiber with little fusing. CONSTITUTION:When a pitch precursor fiber produced by spinning a coal- or petroleum-based pitch raw material is to be put to insolubilization treatment in an oxidative gas, said fiber is imparted, prior to said treatment, with static electricity (pref., washing with a solvent such as water or alcohol followed by imparting the fiber with static electricity through non-contact technique) to effect opening to prevent the pitch yarn from fusing when insolubilized, thereby accomplishing the insolubilization in a short time in high efficiency and obtaining a high-grade pitch fiber of improved physical properties.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject pitch fiber capable of providing a carbon fiber having no radial structure without cracking in calcining by providing a weir around the upstream side of a spinneret hole, discharging mesophase pitch in a molten state over the weir through the spinneret hole and forming a fiber. CONSTITUTION:Mesophase pitch in a molten state is discharged through a spinneret hole and formed into a fiber. In the process, a spinneret equipped with a spinneret plate 2, tightened and fixed through a block 3 to the lower end of a spinneret pack 1 fixed to a machine bed of a spinning machine, a spinneret hole 5 for discharging the mesophase pitch provided in the above- mentioned spinneret plate 2 and a weir 6 provided around the upstream side of the spinneret hole 5 is used to introduce the mesophase pitch in the molten state from a pitch introduction hole 4. The mesophase pitch is then raised above the weir 6 provided around the upstream side of the spinneret hole 5 of the spinneret plate 2 and discharged through the spinneret hole 5 and melt spinning is carried out to afford the aimed pitch fiber.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable ready and continuous infusibilization of a pitch yarn without damaging the yarn while keeping a fine tow shape by carrying out heat treatment of the pitch yarn under tension by its own weight. CONSTITUTION:A pitch yarn is subjected to heat treatment (preferably at 250-350 deg.C final temperature) under tension of its own weight. A vertical furnace is preferable as the infusibilizing furnace and a pitch yarn with >=1000 denier is most preferable as the pitch yarn.
