Abstract: The invention relates to aqueous pigment preparations containing i) at least one copolymer P of ethylenically unsaturated monomers M in the form of an aqueous polymer dispersion which contains between 0.1 and 1.5 weight %, in relation to the total weight of the copolymer P, of polymerised itaconic acid as acid monomer M1, its salts and/or anhydride, where up to 50 weight % of the itaconic acid can be substituted by another monomer having at least one acid group or a neutralised acid group, and whose glass transition temperature TG lies between -10 and +50 ~C; ii) at least one inorganic pigment; iii) possibly inorganic fillers; and iv) standard additives. The invention also relates to the use of the copolymers P containing itaconic acid for improving the wetabrasion resistance of polymer-bound coatings containing pigments.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of compositions comprising at least one aqueous polymer dispersion wherein the polymer has carbonyl or oxirane groups (component a)) and at least one compound with at least two NH2 groups per molecule as sealing or coating compositions, especially for substrates with a hydrophobic surface. The present invention further relates to coating compositions containing such binder formulations.

Abstract: PCT No. PCT/EP94/02487 Sec. 371 Date Feb. 7, 1996 Sec. 102(e) Date Feb. 7, 1996 PCT Filed Jul. 28, 1994 PCT Pub. No. WO95/04771 PCT Pub. Date Feb. 16, 1995Reaction products which are suitable as demulsifiers for crude oil emulsions, comprise olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acids and polyetherols and are obtainable by A) condensation of one or more unsaturated C3-C10-carboxylic acids or their derivatives of the general formula I I where R1 and R2 are each hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl or carboxyl, R3 is hydrogen or methyl and R1 together with the carboxyl group may form a 5-membered or 6-membered anhydride ring, with a polyetherol of the general formula II II where R4 is a radical of a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol or of a phenol or of an alkylphenol of 7 to 30 carbon atoms or a radical of an alkylphenol/formaldehyde or alkylphenol/acetaldehyde condensate, R5 is a branched or straight-chain C2-C4-alkylene group, where different units [R5-O] may be present within a polyalkylene oxide chain, and X is an integer of from 5 to 120, in a molar ratio of compounds II to I of from 2:1 to 10:1 and in a weight ratio of from 25:1 to 1,000:1, B) polymerization of the resulting condensate with one or more unsaturated carboxylic acids I and, if required, further olefinically unsaturated monomers copolymerizable with the carboxylic acids I, the amount of the carboxylic acids I being from 50 to 100 mol %, based on the amount of the olefinically unsaturated monomers, and the molar ratio of the polyetherol II to the sum of the olefinically unsaturated monomers used in process steps A) and B) being from 1:5 to 1:200, and subsequent C) condensation of the resulting reaction mixture, with the proviso that not all hydroxyl groups are converted, and a process for their preparation, mixtures of the reaction products with organic solvents and the use of the reaction products and of the mixtures as demulsifiers for crude oil emulsions.
