The org. epoxy compd. is not particularly limited.

The composition is composed of 100 pts.wt. resin composition comprising (A) 50-99wt.% liquid-crystalline polymer containing preferably structural formula expressed by formula III-formula V selected from structural unit expressed by formula I and formula II (X is bifunctional aromatic residue; Y and Z are bifunctional aromatic, aliphatic or alicyclic residue; R is O or NH) and having 150-280 deg.C heat distortion temperature and (B) 50-1wt.% thermoplastic polymer (e.g. polyamide or polycarbonate) and 1-200 pts.wt., preferably 5-150 pts.wt. (C) filler (e.g. glass fiber).

CONSTITUTION:A composition comprising (A) 1-99wt.% liquid crystal polyester which consists of structural units shown by formula I-formula III (X is group shown by formula IV, formula V, CH2CH2, etc., CO groups of the formula II and formula III are mutually in para- or meta-position and >=50mol% of the CO groups are in para-position), has 190-280 deg.C heat distortion temperature, =10,000 poise melt viscosity and forms anisotropic melt phase, (B) 99-1wt.% polyphenyl sulfide and preferably further containing 0.1-70 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. total amounts of the components A and B, 0.1-70 pts.wt. olefinic polymer, 5-400 pts.wt. reinforcing agent (fibrous or granular) and 1-5,000 pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polyester composed of plural structural units, moldable by melt-molding and suitable for the molding of thin-walled parts and precision parts, etc., by copolymerizing a specific amount of a hydroxycarboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyester containing 30-90mol.% of a structural unit of formula I (X is bivalent benzene ring, etc.), formula II (Y is bivalent benzene ring, etc.) and formula III (Y is bivalent benzene ring, etc.) at a ratio [II/(II+III)] of 10-100mol.% and having a melt viscosity of preferably 100-1,500 poise can be produced by mixing (A) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid such as 1,2-bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid with e.g. an acylated product of (B) p-hydroxybenzoic acid and/or 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid and (C) a dioxy compound (e.g. hydroquinone) and subjecting the mixture to deacetylating polycondensation reaction.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a melt-moldable aromatic polyester excellent in heat resistance and flow, comprising three specified kinds of structural units. CONSTITUTION:This heat-resistant aromatic polyester comprises three kinds of structural units of formulas I, II and III, wherein structural units (I) amount to 55-80mol% based on the total, structural units [II+III] amount to 45-20mol% based on the total and the molar ratio of structural units (II) to structural units (III) is 1-5. In formulas I-III, X is at least one group selected from among groups of formulas IV and V, etc., and Y is at least one group selected from among groups of formulas VI and VII, etc., provided that the case where Y is a group of formula VI when X is at least one group selected from groups of formulas IV and V is excluded. Said polyester can be produced by, for example, subjecting an aromatic dihydroxy compound such as p- hydroxybenzoic acid or t-butylhydroquinone, a dicarboxylic acid such as terephthalic acid and acetic anhydride to a polycondensation reaction by elimination of acetic acid.

CONSTITUTION:Polyphenylene sulfide which is a polymer containing at least 70mol% repeating units of formula I (wherein -Ph- is a group of formula II, III or IV or the like) is heated with water by agitating to 80 deg.C or above to obtain a hot-water-treated polyphenylene sulfide (B). 100pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester (A) having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.5-1.3 (as measured in a 0.5% o-chlorophenol solution at 25 deg.C) is mixed with 1-100pts.wt. component B, 5-150 pts.wt. fibrous and/or particulate reinforcements (C) (e.g., glass fiber chopped strand) and 0.5-80pts.wt. glycidyl group-containing olefin copolymer (D) comprising an alpha-olefin and a glycidyl ester of an alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid (e.g., ethylene/glycidyl methacrylate copolymer).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled high-polymerization degree polyester outstanding in solvent and heat resistances and mechanical properties, by interfacial polycondensation with a dicarboxylic acid dichloride, using each specific bisphenol, catalyst and organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:First, an organic solvent solution is prepared by dissolving in (A) an organic solvent, i.e. a 1-10C halogenated hydrocarbon of a boiling point T >=35 deg.C (e.g. methylene dichloride) (B) pref. 1-40wt% of isophthaloyl dichloride and/or terephthaloyl dichloride. This solution is then incorporated with (C) an aqueous alkali solution of bisphenol >=50mol% of which is bis(4- hydroxyphenyl)sulfone, with a concentration e.g. 1-30wt% and (D) a phosphonium salt of formula (R1-R4 are each 1-16C hydrocarbon; X is chlorine, etc.) followed by polycondensation at (T-15)-(T+15) deg.C, thus obtaining the objective polyester.
