    Abstract: Water-soluble copolymers having a K value of from 15 to 120 (determined on the sodium salt according to H. Fikentscher in aqueous solution at 25.degree.C, a pH of 7 and a polymer concentration of the Na salt of 1% by weight) contain, in the polymerized form, a) from 99.5 to 80 mol % of one or more monoethylenically unsaturated C3-C6-monocarboxylic acids and b) from 0.5 to 20 mol % of one or more comonomers which possess two or more ethylenically unsaturated, nonconjugated double bonds, are derived from esters and are obtainable by esterification of b1) monoethylenically unsaturated C3-C6-monocarboxylic acids with b2) polyhydric alcohols of 2 to 6 carbon atoms, poly alkylene glycols, polyglycerols, polyvinyl alcohol and monohydric, monoethylenically unsaturated C3C6-alcohols and c) from 0 to 30 mol % of other water-soluble, monoethyleni cally unsaturated monomers which are copolymerizable with a) and b), the copolymers containing Polymer segments which consist of units of the monomers a) and c), have a weight average molecular weight of not more than 15,000 and are bonded to one another via units of b).

    Abstract: Water-soluble copolymers having a K value of from 8 to 100 (determined according to H. Fikentscher on sodium salt in aqueous solution at 25.degree.C, a pH of 7 and a polymer concentration of the Na salt of 1% by weight) contain, in polymerized form, a) not less than 15 mol % of one or more monoethylenically unsaturated C3-C6-monocarboxylic acids, b) from 0.5 to 84.5 mol % of one or more ethylenically unsaturated C4-C6-dicarboxylic acids, c) from 0 to 20 mol % of one or more hydroxyalkyl esters, where hydroxyalkyl is of 2 to 6 carbon atoms, of monoethylenically unsaturated C3-C6-carboxylic acids, d) from 0 to 30 mol % of other water-soluble, monoethylenically unsaturated monomers copolymerizable with a), b) and c), e) from 0.5 to 15 mol % of a comonomer which possesses two or more ethylenically unsaturated, nonconjugated double bonds and one or more -CO-OH groups and/or their salt with an alkali metal, ammonium or alkaline earth metal base and, if required, f) up to 10 mol % of one or more comonomers which differ from e) and possess two or more ethylenically unsaturated, nonconjugated double bonds, are prepared by copolymerization of the monomers a) to f) and are used for coating seed.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to novel modified polyaminoamides which are useful as dispersing agents for particulate inorganic solids, especially for inorganic pigments such as clay minerals. The new polyamides are also useful as graying inhibiting additives and detergency boosting additives in washing composition for laundry. In the modified polyaminoamide according to the invention at least a part of the amino nitrogens of the polymer carry both a hydrocarbon radical R which is selected from C1-C6-alkyl, C6-C16-aryl-C1-C4-alkyl and a group AIk-O-A, wherein A is hydrogen or an acidic group selected from B1—PO(OH)2, B1—S(O)2OH and B2—COOH which may be present in the acidic or anionic form, wherein B1 is a single bond or C1-C6-alkanediyl, and B2 is C1-C6-alkanediyl and Alk is C2-C6-alkane-1,2-diyl, and a moiety of the formula (I) —(CH2—CR1R2—O—)pA ,wherein A is as defined above R1 is independently selected from hydrogen, C1-C12-alkyl, C2-C8-alkenyl, C6-C16-aryl or C6-C16-aryl-C1-C4-alkyl, R2 is independently selected from hydrogen or methyl and p is an integer provided that p has a number average of at least 10.
