    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a sugar solution by repeating a sugar solution manufacturing process comprising steps (1) - (3) below, said manufacturing process being characterised by the use of a recovered saccharifying enzyme obtained during step (3) in step (1) of subsequent sugar solution manufacturing processes. Step (1): cellulose undergoes primary hydrolysis by adding a cellulase from a filamentous fungus thereto. Step (2): unused cellulase from the filamentous fungus is added to the hydrolysis product from step (1) and a secondary hydrolysis is carried out. Step (3): the hydrolysis product from step (2) undergoes solid-liquid separation, and a recovered enzyme is obtained from the acquired sugar solution. Thus provided is a method for reducing the amount of an enzyme such as cellulase used in a method for manufacturing a sugar solution from a pretreated cellulose material.

[Solution] Provided is a method for producing a chemical substance through continuous fermentation, said method comprising filtrating a culture solution of a microorganism using a separation membrane, retaining an unfiltered portion of the culture solution in the culture solution or refluxing the unfiltered portion through the culture solution, adding a new fermentation raw material to the culture solution and collecting a product from the culture solution, wherein the fermentation raw material comprises a pentose and a hexose and the microorganism has a pathway through which a pentose can be metabolized with a pentose isomerase.

    Abstract: A method for producing a sugar solution by treating a cellulose-containing biomass with dilute sulfuric acid, said method comprising the below-mentioned steps (1) to (4). In the method, a higher treatment effect can be achieved compared with those achieved in the conventional treatment methods with dilute sulfuric acid. Step (1): a step of treating the cellulose-containing biomass with dilute sulfuric acid and then separating the resultant solution into a dilute sulfuric acid-treated solution and a cellulose-containing solid material. Step (2): a step of adding a cellulase to the cellulose-containing solid material to hydrolyze the cellulose-containing solid material, thereby producing a sugar solution. Step (3): a step of filtrating the dilute sulfuric acid-treated solution through a nano-filtration membrane at a pH of 2.5 or lower to separate out a sugar-rich solution as a non-filtrate and collect an aqueous sulfuric acid solution as a filtrate. Step (4): a step of reusing the whole or a portion of the aqueous sulfuric acid solution obtained in step (3) in the treatment with dilute sulfuric acid in step (1).

    Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a sugar solution, said method comprising the following steps (1)-(3). In addition, a sugar component can be recovered not only from cellulose but also from blackstrap molasses in the present invention by adding blackstrap molasses to a cellulose hydrolysis product, thereby obtaining a mixed sugar solution.

    Abstract: A method for producing a cellulase, comprising steps (1) to (3) mentioned below, wherein the resultant cellulase can be used effectively in washing agents and for the hydrolysis of starches, the hydrolysis of celluloses and so on: (1) filtrating an aqueous solution of a cellulase originated from a filamentous fungus through an ultrafiltration membrane having a cut-off molecular weight of 100,000 to 200,000 to produce a filtrate and a concentrated enzyme solution that is a non-filtrate; (2) filtering the filtrate produced in step (1) through a second ultrafiltration membrane having a cut-off molecular weight of 5,000 to 50,000 to produce a second concentrated enzyme solution that is a non-filtrate; and (3) mixing the concentrated enzyme solutions produced in steps (1) and (2) together to produce a cellulase originated from the filamentous fungus.
