Abstract: An apparatus of latching a swing-arm type variable valve lift and a method of manufacturing the same are provided to reduce the manufacturing cost by forming the apparatus of latching the swing-arm type variable valve lift including a small number of components. An apparatus of latching a swing-arm type variable valve lift comprises a latching device(30) including a latching pin(32), a spring(34), and a stopper plate(36). A swing-arm type variable valve lift includes an inner body(20) and an outer body(10). A first end of the inner body is connected to a first end of the outer body through a step end part of a valve on the same axis. A hydraulic lash adjuster is connected to a second end of the inner body. The latching device is installed on a groove(28), which is formed on the second end of the inner body and has a cylinder shape.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A water pump of a vehicle is provided to reduce power loss by rotating an impeller and circulating water when the temperature of an engine rises over a specific level. CONSTITUTION: A water pump of a vehicle comprises a pump pulley(13) connected to a V-belt via a pulley of a crankshaft, an impeller(12) rotating in a casing(11) to forcibly circulate water, a pulley shaft(21) rotating along with the rotation of the pump pulley, and a power control unit controlling an impeller shaft(22) installed at the center of the impeller. The power control unit includes wax(31) sealed in a space formed in the pulley shaft, a piston(32) having a spline(32a) and a combining protrusion(32b), and a sealing member(33) fitted into the pulley shaft to prevent leakage of the wax. After starting an engine, the impeller shaft rotates by the expansion of the wax. Thus, the overheating of the engine is prevented. At a low engine temperature, cooling water is restrained from circulating. After rising to a specific temperature, cooling water is bypassed. Therefore, power loss is avoided.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An ion probe device is provided to improve performance of an engine by surely measuring characteristic of flame spreading caused by combustion of fuel in a combustion chamber of an engine. CONSTITUTION: An ion probe device comprises: a middle block(10) installed between the upper end of a cylinder block and a cylinder head while having a combustion chamber(11); a middle piston(20) placed in the middle block and connected with a piston(4) of the cylinder block; an ion probe(30) placed at the upper face of the middle piston to sense ions in the flames spread in the combustion chamber; and a signal transmission unit for transmitting the current signals sensed by the ion probe out of the middle block. Flames generated by ignition of the fuel sucked into the combustion chamber are detected by the ion probe. Corresponding signals are transmitted to a signal transmission bar of a signal transmission guider(40) via a graphite contact point of a signal detector contacting with the signal transmission bar. Thereby, spraying of the flames is detected surely.
